Ittihad chairman Effat Sadat confirmed that his club will not take part in league matches unless the FA ‘imposes a severe sanction’ against Masri.
The club should be relegated at least for next season.

Because of their stupid fans?
They should just have to play every game with no fans in the ground and a massive fine

(Reuters) - Egypt's Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the head of the country's ruling military council, ordered two helicopters be sent to Port Said, the scene of violent soccer clashes, to fly out some of the visiting Al Ahli soccer team and its fans, military sources said.
The helicopters will transfer the injured to military hospitals, the sources said.

The F&J Party has put the blame on the current leaders of Egypt...
"The events in Port Said are planned and are a message from the remnants of the former regime,"

It sounds like some of the teams in the Egyptian league have withdrawn themselves from the league.

Yeah. The FA has cancelled the league anyways, so it doesn't matter.

Egyptian clubs should set up their own FA and their own league separate from the current Egyptian FA.
Would be nice to see Egypt do it as I have been wishing Poland to do the same for some time.

Re: 73 dead as fans riot in Egypt
Masri chairman Kamel Abou-Ali, head coach Hossam Hassan and his staff have all announced their resignation following the deadly events that marred Wednesday’s game with Ahli.
The Port-Said club’s website announced the news as it issued an official apology to Ahli fans, following the 73 deaths reported after the game.
“As soon as the match ended, the blood of Ahli fans from the stands right below the website’s office at the stadium was all over the place,” a statement from the Masri site read.
“There was blood on the seats, computers and walls. The Masri website team became medics to help the injured.
“We were crying as it was a very sad scene that we will never forget.
“We apologize for not being able to resume our normal work for technical and human reasons.”
It is also rumored that the ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces is set to sack Port-Said governor Ahmed Abdullah and head of security Essam Samak.

It's not fully clear yet. They were sending death threats the night before on Facebook. It's probably just a heated rivalry that escalated with a lack of security. Then there are others who blame the SCAF (the ruling military) of hiring thugs to enter and cause chaos so they can screw with the revolution some more. Either way, the security forces are to blame for not doing their job.
