I don't agree, he got his ankle clipped and there was no way he was going to recover or stay on his feet, if there was any chance of that he would have scored.
Players don't usually go down when there is a clear goal scoring chance ahead of them.
And yes he does dive and over-exaggerate and complain to refs, I personally don't like this part of his game.

Why would he score rather than take the penalty and red card? He is a deeply nasty, unsportsmanlike and above all cynical player, I don't doubt that if he had the chance of red card + penalty with 5 minutes gone, or goal with 5 minutes gone, he would take the former.

Ronaldo is a fantastic player, but I'm talking about his ability and his effectiveness, not his character. Even he has never cheated a team, cheated a country, cheated a continent, out of a World Cup Semi Final.
