There's always controversy in Sunderland matches. I really don't like them.

I've always feared Sunderland to be honest. Strangly enough out of all the top teams I fear Manchester United the least.

On the bright side, Suarez scored.
And it was a headed goal.

Liverpool completely dominated the first half, Downing was much more impressive than I expected.
But as I expected, Carroll isn't worth 35 big ones and Suarez was short on fitness, as the game wore on he became none existent.
And Carroll didn't foul anyone, I was kind of happy you got hard done by there.

It's pretty ovbious he's not worth 35m. Everyone knows we overpayed but I don't think he's a bad player by any means. The Bat-Man wrote:Liverpool completely dominated the first half, Downing was much more impressive than I expected.

I thought it was the correct decision. He clearly pushed him. Would of been a good goal as well.

There's barely any players worth 35 million. That's what you have to pay to get a team's star player on deadline day though. The Bat-Man wrote:Liverpool completely dominated the first half, Downing was much more impressive than I expected.

Serious? It was a little nudge, he only got penalised because of his size, Crouch always got treated like that.

Kenny made a mistake today with not playing Kuyt from the start. Henderson was a passenger all game and with the side we were playing perhaps he should have started from the bench.

Sorry guys, if that was a good performance then we're screwed. I'd say he was average. Not good, not bad. He could blame that on lack of service but he's still missing something. I'm confident he can be a good player if we would stop aiming for his head so much. Our players seem to think he's better at heading than he is. Let's not forget that he has a decent shot.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Don't know what to say really, brilliant first half, absolutely atrocious second, Sunderland should of won it. I'll just be giving brief comments on the players.
Reina- Sound, dealt with everything all game, didn't have much to do apart from pick that superb goal out of the net.
Flanagan- Had a 'mare, an absolute 'mare. Still think he's got a great future ahead, just weren't at the racers today.
Carragher- 1 word 'slow'.
Agger- Not bad, did alright.
Jose- Did well on his debut, was impressed, but sorry, the goal was totally his fault, he stood there while the player crossed it in, if he'd of just stuck half a leg out like he should of, we'd probably have 3 points now, that was his only mistake, he was ball watching completely. Even though Flanagan had a bad game, he weren't at fault for that goal.
Lucas- Another one that had a 'mare. His passing and awareness was awful, reminiscent of his early days here, just ball doodling on the ball and making bad passes. Still one of our better players though, he was rusty, that's all.
Adam- Thought he played well actually and was definitely carrying Lucas today, was certainly the better of the 2 players. Great ball for the first goal as well and he should of took the penalty.
Henderson- Did nothing wrong at all, he impresses me with his play, the problem is, he's just not a winger and he can't impact the game enough, he's a very intelligent player and one I'm looking forward to seeing more of.
Downing- Typical wingers performance, did well, put some great balls in, had a great run and shot, tracked back well and then in other phases of the game, he just weren't in it, went missing, I think he needs to come inside more, he's good enough to do that. He's better than lets on, in and around the inside areas of the pitch.
Suárez- Weren't at his fantastic best by any means, looked a tad tired, but he still played well, scored a goal, but his penalty was a joke. Low and hard, low and hard...
Carroll- Not bad, did ok. Better on the floor than given credit for. I don't see why we have to play so many high balls to him, by all means play long balls, but to his feet, not always to his head, he's a better player than that. He'll 'cause Arsenal trouble next week.
Meireles- Why Kenny plays him on the left I'll never know, he'll never impact a game there or play his best football.
Kuyt- Kuyt was well, Kuyt. I'd play him against Arsenal though.
As I said, first half, brilliant, second half- diabolical. Average day at the office.
All in all, a little disappointing, would of been nice to be sitting here a comfortable 3 points in the bag on the opening day, but wasn't to be, glad the footy's back, long season ahead, plenty of points to play for.

I don't get it Dean, you say Lucas had a 'mare and his passing etc was awful, then you say he was one of the better players? .
Atmosphere at the start of the game looked good, but in the second half everyone was quiet. Sort them out Dean.

Don't agree with that. Flanno was just as much to blame for that goal. Completely left Larsson unmarked to pull off the shot.

I think he means he is still one of the better players in the squad, just not necessarily in that match.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Today, in the second half there were massive gaps between the center mids and defenders, which gave Sunderland plenty of space to run at our center backs.
and at the same time, there weren't giving Carroll enough support. And times there was like no center mid as they were all over the place.
If Adam is going to be played, I would prefer a three man midfield.
