Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could face charges from the Football Association (FA) over comments made about referee Martin Atkinson in the aftermath of last night’s defeat to Chelsea.
Fergie was enraged over a number of decisions made by the referee, including the decision not to give David Luiz a second yellow card after a crude challenge on Wayne Rooney and the decision to award a penalty for a seemingly innocuous foul by Chris Smalling on Yuri Zhirkov, which led to Chelsea’s winner.
In an interview with club station MUTV after the game: Ferguson raged: "It's hard to take, we didn't deserve that.
“You hope you get a really strong referee in games like this. It was a major game for both clubs and you want a fair referee, you know... you want a strong referee anyway and we didn't get that. I must tell you - I must say that when I saw who was refereeing it, I feared the worst."
Ferguson and Atkinson have history as the United manager was given a severe warning by the FA over comments made about the official following a 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth in 2008. On that occasion, Fergie said that Atkinson’s performance should not be accepted, while his assistant, Carlos Queiroz, described Atkinson as ‘a robber’.
According to English newspaper The Independent, Ferguson’s comments ‘will almost certainly warrant investigation from the FA’ as they clearly question the integrity of the official involved.

Coolio.
Don't bother looking at Luiz's elbow on Hernandez though, ok FA?
