What? The way he has been playing he deserves 50k when you consider what some other players are on in our squad. But he's still not played that many games and might not even improve anymore, it's too early to say, so if he isn't good enough to make the first team any more then he just gets 20k a week.

What happens when we play 2/3 games in a week? 60k or 90k plus the 20k oh god why I know what you're saying, but that is a ridiculous thing to offer, you've obviously not been playing Football Manager recently. Snooty

You don't play him more than once a week. It'll be temp until he fully establishes himself as a PL winger.

    I don't play it.

Giving massive appearance bonuses is a surefire way to fuck up your teams finances. shifty

Back on topic, I think he's being a greedy little shit, he's obviously got some agent in his ear telling him that if we won't sign him, Man City will..

He should bloody look at how Scott Sinclair, Jack Rodwell and Adam Johnson have ended up since they went there, they don't want to buy him to play him, they just want all their fingers in all the pies so no-one else can have these good players.

He'll have more than that in his ear. He's just done his first ad for Nike. I've read about them and Adidas pushing youngsters to go to teams they sponsor. The fact of the matter is he's a massive prospect and the cunts still 17.

As much as I agree with you about him being greedy, I'd hate for us to lose out on a big talent over wages. We've possibly got an uncut diamond here. I mean if a 17 year old winger burst on to the scene at another club with the attributes Sterling has, we'd most likely be offering what other clubs are offering, but more importantly they won't come to us if we're just offering the same wages as City, United or Chelsea.

It's not about what he needs.

    Put yourself in his shoes.

You 17 years old. The club says they'll give you 20k a week. A group of men start telling you they can get 50k and make you the biggest thing in football. They say they'll get you into a potential CL winning team and you'll play loads. You'll be an England regular and massive celebrity.

They'll be twisting the clubs words saying they're not offering more because they don't value you as high as Stewart Downing. Doing everything they can so you sign the bigger contract and they get a fat 20% + cut.

    You're going to take it.

Brendan Rodgers will be speaking to him also though.

I'm sure he knows he won't be a starter at a CL club and that he's got a good thing going right now.

Where did you get those stats from, what are van Persie's? Not for comparison sake but I'm not sure if he's got 4 or 5 assists, different places say different things, I thought it was 4.

Thank God that Luis 'much disregard for his peers' Suarez is suspended for the next game, I hate to think of the consequences that another innocent man would suffer from coming into contact with this speck of faecal matter.

Yeah that's weird, because on the official PL site.. Suarez has one more, and so does Robin, they both have less shots too.

Doesn't that stat just mean that he passes to a player, and that player shoots the ball?

It's hardly a surprise, considering the number of potshots Stevie G Captain Fantastic YNWA takes a match, Suarez is bound to be the one feeding him the passes.

I don't think it is as simple as that. Besides, there hasn't been many Suarez/Gerrard combos this season.

I think it's more for real goal scoring chances, like his clever little pass to Johnson against Southampton, who flicked it across the face of the goal.

According to this Sturridge is done deal, trying to swap Carroll for Ba, and any money left over goes to Walcott.

It's moderately believable, they got Carroll playing his best, they might be able to do it again. And I'm sure Carroll wants to return to the Newcastle.

That Carroll deal wouldn't be great for us though when you think about it.

Yeah we're getting a better player and a better goal scorer, but considering his contract situation right now he's worth no more than £7.5 million, so a straight swap would be like us saying we value Carroll at £7.5 million as well. If we could get £17 million for him from West Ham in the summer that's like wasting £10 million. I think it just depends how keen West Ham are on him, because if we know we've got that money coming in in the summer surely we can afford to go out and get Ba for £7.5 million, if he's a target of course.

I'd say cut our losses with Carroll. West Ham aren't going to spend that much on him. He's already on his second long-ish term injury since moving there. Out for 8 weeks IIRC. If we got Ba in exchange for Carroll, we'd be laughing. He's joint top scorer with Suarez, RVP and Michu right now. Carroll is never going to fit in here with Roger's long term plan of playing good football. Then again, the same could be said for Ba, although not as extreme.
