Liverpool FC Official Thread
Arsenal are playing with 2 right footed CB's, and as you said, most do. But I'm not sure if I've ever seen two left footed CB's play together.

What difference would it make? I'd put that down to the lack of left footed players more than anything else.

Fair enough, I've never seen him play in that position.Scott M wrote:Blessed with pace, a monstrous build and aggression which makes him both a winner on the field as well as off it, you could argue Mamadou Sakho is a complete centre-back despite just being 23 years of age. He is predominantly left-footed and, although he prefers to play as the left centre-back, he has played on the right and is equally comfortable in both roles. Along with his aggression and undeniable strength in the air, Sakho is perhaps one of the most intelligent young defenders in the game. His reading of the game is that of a seasoned veteran and his positional sense is quite remarkable for someone so young. Very rarely is Sakho caught out of position and on the rare occasion he is, he uses his pace and acceleration to great effect to recover his ground. It is this pace and acceleration which also saw Sakho start his professional career as a left-back playing over 100 games for Paris Saint-Germain in this role.

A left footed player will play on the left, and that's what they will do throughout their youth and throughout their career, it's difficult to adjust to play on a different side, add in that there aren't as many left footed players as there are right footed players and that makes this type of player harder to come by.Scott M wrote:What difference would it make? I see what you're saying, but come to think of it, why is this? It's interesting. Surely it shouldn't matter whether you're left footed or right footed. Both should be capable of playing on the "other side" equally as good? The Zlatan wrote:A left footed player will play on the left, and that's what they will do throughout their youth and throughout their career, it's difficult to adjust to play on a different side, add in that there aren't as many left footed players as there are right footed players and that makes this type of player harder to come by.Scott M wrote:What difference would it make? Yeah, it is strange one. I guess it's to do with positioning, you lead with your favoured foot so I imagine it causes some issues.

I will admit chip, I was a critic of Henderson. When he first played he seemed to always be a few plays behind and chasing the game. But he has blossomed into a tidy and overall much better player.Chip wrote:you dumb fuckScott M wrote:I don't think anyone has said Henderson is shit.
when we first signed Henderson about 2 months into the season everybody said he was useless and should be sold
I told everybody he was marvellous, then I said the same last season and the same this season
He is phenomenal, although most of you cunts wouldn't know shit about anything except goals/assists
Henderson > Coutinho

Most ridiculous thing I have ever read about him. From a Liverpool blog

Reports in Portugal claiming Liverpool are closing in on signing Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Llori. #LFC
Express also running with this story.

Would prefer Sakho considering he has more experience of playing at a higher level than this Lori fella.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Liverpool Football Club and Warrior have co-published the third football kit for 2013/14 season. This new kit takes inspiration from this club's 1995-96 away kit. The design of this third kit has completely perfected the vitality of this season's kits.
This new third kit not only has high technical content, but also has a unique eye-catching style. This club will wear this kit in the Premier League away match and appropriate domestic cup.
Black as the main colour, striking white and purple as trim, this design first appeared in the 1995-96 season's kit. This shirt has been reworked with modern elements, perfectly combining the three color blocks. The sleeves also use the contrasting colour-blocked design, refer to the striped socks and balance the overall look. This new third kit also features the embroidery liverpool bird logo and club badge with the 96 mark surrounded by the eternal flame on the back of the neck.
Powered by breathable, moisture-wicking fabric, mesh panelling under the arms and across the back provides optimum ventilation, allowing for added comfort and temperature control in core heat areas.

Latest buzz guy is Yarmolenko, tbh I just want something close to a big signing. 20 million is big when not being spent on English players.

Apparently we're in for Shay Given as back up for Mignolet. (Guardian)
He's better than Brad Jones, but seriously, what the hell?

@SteveGMilne Yes Toure has a chance for Sunday. Nowhere near as serious as first feared. If he fails to make Utd, should be ok for Swansea

Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 5s
Hoped that Sakho and Ilori will arrive on Merseyside for medicals in the next 24hrs. Does not mean Skrtel is on the way, I'm told
Fuck, if we pulled that off, that would be amazing.Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 18m
#LFC hope to complete signings of PSG's Mamadou Sakho and Sporting's Tiago Ilori before #MUFC match http://bbc.in/15p0gI7
Agger, Kolo Toure, Sakho, Ilori (and Skrtel, if he stays).
That's fucking strong.

That description that they gave of Sakho (except for the other positions part) would fit Thiago Silva to a tee, but nothing like SakhoThe Zlatan wrote:Is it not true, Jay? I've never personally seen him on the right.

@ Keyser, I've heard enough from credible people about Sakho to know how good he is, so the fact we have him, Agger and Toure leads me to believe we've a very strong defence. Don't know much about Ilori, but he isn't going to be a starter anyway.

It's good to see we no longer have the slowest defense in Europe.
