The @neilashton_ story in the Mail about contact between Benitez and Chelsea that you may have seen is, I believe, correct.

Apparently it's only a caretaker role until the end of the season. Would hate to see Rafa at Chelsea though.

I don't care, personally. It would be nice to just see him manage again. I won't lose any respect at all for him.

    Me neither.

Hope he gets a good reception when he comes to Anfield with Chelsea. He deserves it for what he did here.

Hardly ran us into the ground.

Most managers would have struggled in Rafa's position that season.

    Technical analysis

    1)
Liverpool FC Official Thread - Page 13 9scu3a

An early shot of Luis still learning his trade in Holland. Note the trajectory from the side/behind, so no chance of injury to himself, but studs carefully planted into the opposition players rear upper calf & knee area. It's also likely Luis is aware that the referee is facing onto the front of this so has little idea of the contact made. Clearly, the opposition player is less skilled in these arts than Luis, hence rises quickly to his feet without feigning what was luckily no injury. The piece de resistance is Luis's fine simulation of having been injured himself, and if a Dutch referee doesn't spot this there's no chance an English official will when the move is used again in England.

    2)
Liverpool FC Official Thread - Page 13 Suarezdive5

Here Luis introduces his frontal stamp, carefully ignoring and passing over the trajectory of the ball so that his studs can be firmly planted into Kompany's ankle. Note his eyes fixed downwards to accurately plant the stamp, followed by an immediate fall and roll suggesting to the referee that he is in fact the fouled party. The subsequent rubbing motion implying contact to his head is also a masterful afterthought.

    3)
Liverpool FC Official Thread - Page 13 MirallasSuarez

On this occasion Luis has diligently tracked back on the oppositions most dangerous player of the first half. Mirrallas's skill in transferring the ball is however turned to the advantage of Luis, who by quick thinking is able to break stride and move his left foot outwards to the side and down onto the oppositions player's front foot/ankle area. Again note the careful downward scrutiny of Luis to achieve accuracy followed by a fall to suggest that this has been accidental. The bonus here is that the opposition player is subsequently withdrawn injured.

    4)
Liverpool FC Official Thread - Page 13 IHvvo5bLLinZE

This one is slightly disappointing in it's lack of subtlety, and the referee feels therefore compelled to show some token action resulting in a yellow card. It's to be hoped Luis can improve on this in the future, although the redeeming features are the sheer scale of the intent to injure in a serious manner, and the hand held wide gesture conotating both sorrow and innocence.

    5)
Liverpool FC Official Thread - Page 13 1353196880867

This clip is remarkable in showing the determination of Luis to take such action even when Liverpool are winning comfortably. Again, the ball is carefully ignored as a classic downward motion is applied to the side of the opposition players ankle. Whereas on this occasion Luis does not feel it necessary to fall or feign injury himself, he is however quick to run from the scene to remain involved in other action for valuable distraction purposes.

I wanted to knock him out! Swansea star Williams rages against Luis Suarez

Swansea entertain Liverpool on Sunday and defender Ashley's new book reportedly gives controversial Uruguayan a comprehensive going over

Luis Suarez: Liverpool striker celebrates while providing terrace wags with more fuel for their cruel 'his teeth are offside" chants
    Andrew Powell

Footballer's books are often dreary, mealy-mouthed affairs, but Swansea's Ashley Williams has reportedly spiced his up by including a vitriolic attack on Liverpool's loveable-hateable Luis Suarez.

Williams is all smiles on the cover of his new book, My Premier League Diary, extracts from which have been appearing in the South Wales Evening Post and elsewhere online.

But the section dealing with Swansea's games against Liverpool last season - particularly the 0-0 at Anfield - reportedly reads something like a hate-filled rant against the controversial Uruguayan striker.

According to extracts reported online, Williams labels Suarez "streets ahead of any player I've truly disliked since we've been in the Premier League."

In My Premier League Diary, the defender reportedly writes: “Suarez has that aura about him that says ‘I’m untouchable’ and his manner and behaviour made me want to knock him out."

Timing is everything in the publishing game, and Liverpool's trip to Swansea in the Premier League this Sunday could hardly have come at a better moment sales-wise.

Williams is reportedly quick to credit the part played by former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers in his own development, but the headlines belong to Suarez - and it looks like another classic handshake moment could be in the offing before Sunday's 1.30pm kick-off.

In another extract from the book, Williams writes: "I’d go as far as to say that the manner in which he [Suarez] approached the game, with utter contempt for us all, means that he’s streets ahead of any player I’ve truly disliked since we’ve been in the Premier League.

"...he dived more than any other player I’ve played against before – it was so bad I was genuinely shocked.... You can only judge a player from how he behaves towards you on the pitch. Well, to me, his behaviour was embarrassing."

    Laughing

Hope Suarez rips him a new one on Sunday. Just hope Williams is professional enough not to try anything stupid.

Williams had his arsehole ripped open by Aldo fucking de Nigris. I'm sure you're thinking, "Who?"

    Exactly.

Suarez is going to break William's hip. Um, figuratively speaking that is. Don't want to give Suarez any ideas.
