If we win those, that would make it 12 points out of 12 and 4 straight wins, which is something we really need to raise the confidence levels within the squad.

Our performances are getting much better, we're controlling every game, getting over 60% possession and dominating every other in-game stat for the last few games, including the one we lost at Spurs. All we need is goals, it's good that we banged in 3 without Suarez at the weekend, hopefully that'll make players trust themselves more and not always look to give it to Suarez, which can break down our attacking attempts sometimes.

Throughout the next 2 games, some of the teams above us are playing each other, so it's so important that we win against Aston Villa and Fulam. We could easily propel up to 4th/5th.

If we can get ourselves within touching distance of 4th by January, and add more quality to the team in the transfer window, who knows? We are reliant on the teams around us continuing with their point dropping though.

Saw somewhere that Rodgers is going to bid for Michu, lol. Whilst that would be fucking amazing, it's not going to happen.

    Heres hoping.

That game with fulham seems like it'll be hard. Just not confident with going against them.

If we beat Aston Villa comfortably, I can see that momentum will help us beat Fulham.

The way people's opinions on a team's season can differ so much is mad. Nearly anyone would tell you that Everton are having a much better season than us, and that we're really struggling, but we're only 4 points behind and on a much better run of form.

Taking everything into account, the new style of play, young players being thrown in at the deep end, only having 2 recognised strikers to start to season (one of which got injured after 6 weeks) and having a small squad to work with, 95% of fans would have bitten your hand off if you'd offer being only 4 points away from the top 4 and qualifying top of our Europa League group.

No matter what your opinion of Brendan Rodgers is, you've got to give him credit for having the balls to trust his style of play and the young players he put in the side, especially after our first month of the season.

With 3 or 4 signings in key areas we could have a really good second half to the season, tiredness will have to be watched with having a small squad and a lot of matches. The Europa League isn't a priority, although getting to the semi final/final would be brilliant. I'm not going to kick off if we don't get in the top 4, because I personally believe we'll miss out, but to challenge for it after the last few years we've had would show massive signs of progress and would give me a lot of confidence for the next couple of years.

I think we've done very well, considering we only have one striker. In our first few games, Borini was actually playing well, getting into good positions against Man City and being denied several times by good saves against Sunderland. I reckon he'll add to our attack when he comes back. He obviously has an eye for the goal and is a poacher. Rodgers brought him here for a reason, and that reason is that he thinks Borini can get goals. He said himself that the fans will be excited about him once they can see what he can do and he hasn't really had the chance to show us yet. What I do really like about him though, is his positioning and how his runs create a massive amount of space for our other players, namely Suarez. That's one player we'll have back in January, which will be like a new signing really.

I reckon we need an established striker and an established wide-forward. Coupled with Borini returning, that would be a decent bolster to our attack. The 2 new signings can join Suarez up front and the likes of Sterling and Suso would be great players to have on the bench.

Reckon we're going to see more of Assaidi at some point too.

Yeah that's not how I meant it. I don't think he's the sorta guy to back out of fight.

I just think he needs to use his body better but his weakness is understandable given he hasn't even been through puberty yet.

Ince and Sturridge are the targets for January apparently. Personally I think we should be aiming for better.

Don't really want Sturridge. Also agree with Scott about Borini, hopefully Rodgers starts to play him down the middle when he's back.

I would rather have Walcott for some reason. shifty Even when Sturridge was doing well, I didn't really rate him. (It's probably easier for me to say that now he's not doing as well)

Sturridge has a fantastic left peg, he would be a decent alternative to Theodore Walcott.

I am not exactly rolling in money, and given my lack of a full time job, I would not be willing to offer any liquid monetary means of exchange for Daniel Sturridge's services. However, I hope that Brendan Rodgers manages to acquire said player for Liverpool Football Club for under 8 million pounds. In my eyes, that would represent an acceptable piece of business.

Daft question that. Should've been more precise.

If the club could acquire Daniel for under the £10M mark, I would be very happy with the deal.

Does no-one in this thread bother to discuss Liverpool-related matters in depth anymore? All I seem to read are one-liners. Only seen one person bother, and that's El Jefe.

Anyway, I'm starting to feel a bit uneasy about the Aston Villa game. We've just ended a year of no back to back wins, so what are the chances that we'd make it three wins out of three?

Hope Rodgers tells his team to be ruthless and relentless in attack. I hope Suarez goes crazy. Really hope we get an early goal to settle the nerves and turn it into a thumping, rather than it being 0-0 for over 40 mins and panic setting in.

Would like to see the following (think Enrique is not going to be risked)

    Assaidi - Suarez - Sterling
    Sahin - Allen
    Lucas
    Johnson - Agger - Skrtel - Widsom

However, I don't expect Assaidi to start, nor Gerrard to be missing from the first 11.
