He came on with what, 15 minutes left? In a team that was now out of shape, with the opposition on top of them. I think Raul can be forgiven.
Who should have come on instead then? Suarez was obviously tired.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
How fucking deep did we want to be in that second half?
Difference between us and United that was, you watch them in the last 10 minutes when their drawing or losing, they're piling men forward, full backs playing like extra wingers, defenders on half way line, 'keeper acting as a fucking sweeper.
Compare that to us, Agger and Carragher were on the edge of our own box for the whole fucking game, Enrique was playing far too deep, annoying because when he went forward he put in 1 or 2 great crosses, Flanagan had a bit of a nightmare too.
Adam and Lucas were too deep, the latter's passing was poor in all honesty. Sticking Meireles out on the left hand side when we needed a goal? I'd rather have someone like Jovanovic on the wing, can't put too much blame on Raul though, he hasn't really had that much of a pre-season.
I thought Downing was alright, couple of good runs, the occasional good cross too. Suarez didn't seem as energetic as usual, gonna take 6 months though, isn't it?
Got what we expected from Carroll, won his fair share of headers, but slowed down attacks far too much for my liking. Kuyt did well when he came on, I'd start him at The Emirates.
Just as I come to finishing this post, I realize that I haven't mentioned Henderson, didn't even notice he was on the fucking pitch, he'll need to improve massively on that performance if he wants to be anywhere near the first team squad, he was a passenger.
Glad the football season is back...

I don't know N'gog? In the end our only attacking outlet seemed to be Carroll, and our players just got lazy and started hoofing to him.Dan wrote:Bogdan wrote:I'm not blaming him, I'm just saying he was a poor choice to sub in.Dan wrote:Bogdan wrote:Meireles was such an uninspired substitution, he added nothing. u cannot change genetics bogdan
those liverpool players have long ball implanted into their brain
and this is multiplied when they see 196 cm striker on other side of the field. they know long way is the only way

Sometimes it's like Carragher does.

Oh yeah, was Carroll's goal wrongly disallowed? It seemed to be in my opinion.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
People will have different opinions on this but I don't care how much we paid for Carroll, I'd rather have Suarez + Kuyt than Suarez + Carroll. As shown last season, we had a couple of great games with Suarez and Kuyt up front, good pass and move play. I can only think of one game where we did very well with Carroll playing, which was against Man City.
I'm not saying Carroll is bad, he had a goal wrongly disallowed, but I'd rather see Suarez and Kuyt up front against Arsenal. Obviously not going to happen though. I'll probably get loads of facepalms and stuff for saying this, but it's just my opinion.

It was. That's the kind of player Carroll is. He nudges a defender. Free-kick, yellow card.

Carragher has never been a 'ball playing' center back, and never will be.
He is your typical English center back, last ditch tackles and all that ...
Looking forward to see Skrtel back though.

Wes Brown is such a dickhead, he knew he couldn't win the battle with Carroll, he was diving the whole match, breaking up the flow of play.Cadbury wrote:It was. That's the kind of player Carroll is. He nudges a defender. Free-kick, yellow card.

I rather he passed the ball sideways to Agger then hoof it up the field. Someone needs to tell him to stop.

Falling over whenever Carroll was near him doesn't really count. You lot have lowered your standards.

Suarez and Kuyt link up much better than Carroll and Suarez. I've had my say on Carroll and I think you know where I stand. Suarez and Carroll were in two different minds all day.

He didn't have anything in his back pocket. He dived relentlessly. Terrible player, I can understand why United got rid.VivaRonaldo wrote:Breaking News: Former United defender Wes Brown arrested after he leaves Anfield with £35mil in his pocket.

Flanno was shit. Carra slow. Agger and Enrique were solid, so impressed by Jose. Lucas was rusty, Henderson was anonymous (no idea why Kuyt was left on the bench). Not sure about Carroll, he seemed to play alright, I guess. Suarez was tired as fuck.
That second half was so so poor. Should of finished them in the first half. Urghhhh.

So are we going to allow them time to get this partnership worked out? You know, let them gel?

If Carroll's goal had counted or Downing's shot had been a couple of inches lower, that could have been a great start to the season

In a nutshell, this.
Massive buzzkill. I was expecting a good match. Hopefully Arsenal get spanked.

Oh, and 18 opening matches without a winning margin for us of more than 1 goal.
