It would come to Downing and he'd try and play a ball to Carroll and it'd bounce out for a throw-in. Why we are trying to sell him, I don't know. He's gone, we need to pray that Gerrard comes back with a bang. Flanagan needs to work on his marking. It's not the first time he's lost his man during a cross i.e Downing last season.

What's with Kelly? Has he picked up a knock?

Yep, all well and good blaming Flanagan. Who blocked the cross? Cut out the source, cut out the goal.

Needed to create chances? Sunderland weren't giving us space?

    Christ, we aren't fucking Barcelona.

Didn't help Adam at all, couldn't tackle or pass. I expected him to carry on from last season.

Lucas and Adam were hardly used. You could see Lucas flipping out near the end when he ws wide open and Carragher opted to hoof it to Downing. This hoofing has gone to far. We've got so many midfielders, why not bloody use them?

Sunderland deserved to win after thoroughly outplaying Liverpool on their own turf.

I thought Liverpool got away with a lot of decisions today, as often happens at Anfield and they can be extremely relieved with the point they have picked up, however I fear that negativity may surround Anfield very soon as fans discover they are not good enough to win the league yet again. I wish their fans would heed my words when I inform them not to get carried away at the start of every year, but once again they have failed to heed the obvious advice Neutral

One? He was poor a few times last season too.

I think he WILL be a good player for us but right now he isn't ready to start and that was evident before the game.

No he wasn't. He came in, when nobody else could and did a very good job considering his lack of experience. Don't tell me you're going to jump on the back of every mistake he makes from now on.

No, like I've said before I think for his age he's a good player and he's likely to be at least a good squad player for us in the future. My issue is that he isn't developed enough to start yet and he is far too rash.

Well he did. Johnson is out and for all we know Kelly might not be fully fit.

He didn't have a good second half, but he's young and that will happen. He'll learn from it.

What? He wasn't faultless... He had a good game and set up our only goal. The only problem he had today was trying to do the dirty work Lucas was supposed to do. He can't tackle and stopped the game plenty of times.

    Shut up, seriously.

Adam and Lucas went missing in the second half. There was no pressure on the Sunderland players when they had the ball like in the first half, and we lost our rhythm completely.

Meireles was such an uninspired substitution, he added nothing. Kuyt added some work rate and urgency at least.

No, I mean the pushed far too forward and left a massive gap between the CM's and center backs. Sunderland had loads of space.

He came on with what, 15 minutes left? In a team that was now out of shape, with the opposition on top of them. I think Raul can be forgiven.
