IIRC, we also told Torres to put in the transfer request, to avoid paying him loyalty bonuses and ensure that we end up with the full £50 million.

I do not believe Wenger will be willing to meet Liverpool's valuation of Suarez, which is £60 million. I do not believe we will sell to you anyway, after Henry has said that we'd categorically not sell to Arsenal, especially.

If by some chance, you bid £60 million and we accepted, I'd say that's a cracking deal on our behalf Laughing It;s not going to happen though.

I'm not changing my mind, regarding the Higuain thing. Opinions change when new details come to light, that's normal. I think both situations are equally funny and as long as one of them is true, I'm happy.

I think you should stop obsessing over Suarez, jumping into this thread deluding yourself into thinking it's still going to happen and concentrate on the poor, poor summer you're having so far and how your board are a bunch of idiots.
You've changed your mind twice just in that one post rofl its pathetic.
Poor poor summer ? Last time I checked the player that effectively single handedly won us our league position isn't begging to leave to a rival (That happened last summer and the summer before). Its Liverpool that's having the poor summer, you think Alberto and Aspas make up for this embarrassing situation with Suárez ? there there
Er, what did I change my mind about in that post?

We're having a great summer, actually

Loaned out Reina, who was constantly making mistakes and costed us several points in the process, and replaced him with Mignolet, who looks extremely confident, assured and hasn't even conceded a single goal for us in 5 or 6 games. He's been making saves that I'd expect Reina to concede, so we've improved there and I'm pretty sure we will benefit hugely from the lack of goalkeeping errors this season.

We've replaced Carragher with Toure, which is another upgrade. Toure has also been very decent through-out his games so far for us. He too, hasn't conceded a single goal whilst playing.

We shipped out Spearing and Shelvey, both lacking any technical skill and both your typical English "get stuck in there" players who I class as dead wood. We've brought in Alberto, who looks to be 10 times the player Shelvey and Spearing would be combined. He looks silky, technically brilliant, has scored a cracking 20 yard volley, and appears to be very similar to Coutinho, who's going to be a star for us this season. Massive upgrade there.

Aspas has come in and scored 4 goals and made 3 assists in 5 games or so. That is impressive, regardless if it's pre-season or not. Not only that, but he's done that whilst looking quite poor in terms of finishing. So, just imagine how good he could be for us in terms of goal scoring if he improves on that part of his game. He is an upgrade over Downing, who may potentially leave.

So, overall, we've gotten rid of deadwood players who lack technical ability and/or are constantly making mistakes and replaced them with players of a certain mentality, certain skill level and at brilliant prices for their ability.

We also look like we're going to bring in Cissoko, who will improve our left-back position and we're expected to bring in another attacking player and willing to spend quite a bit on whoever it is (Looks like it's Costa).

Add to that, the probability that Suarez is now going to stay. To me, it's been the best summer transfer window for a long, long time at Liverpool.

Whereas what's happened at Arsenal? You've missed out on all of your big targets so far and your only signing is a french youngster. You've stagnated. It's been poor and I've seen lots of Arsenal fans complaining about it on Arsenal Mania.

I think our season objective should be to win at the Britannia. I'm tired of that demented sea otter Jonathan Walters opening his seaweed-stained mouth with a big smile to his saliva-soaked fans.

New manger and a new style of play alien to them, I think they'll be significantly weaker this season, especially against teams who play like we do.

I'm not saying we've had a amazing, great or even good summer but its been decent and its certainly been better than Liverpool's. We haven't lost any of our keys players, which we usually do and yet still outperform Liverpool, so we'll be even stronger than last season. You said you've gotten rid of some dead wood well we've gotten rid of pretty much all ours. We've gotten rid of 7 players on 1st team wages, with Chamakh having a medical at Crystal Palace it looks to be 8 and with Park and Bendtner still very likely to go.

We have had two world class strikers express serious interest to join us, one that wasn't signed because the club didn't want him and another is on going. We've actively shown we can offer fees upwards of £40million on single player. What have Liverpool done ? Signed 3 players for peanuts, two of which were most likely signed because your top target Mkhitaryan rejected the chance to join you and even took a swipe at the club rofl You've moved on to Costa who's said he doesn't want to move to you either. Any top 10 club can sign players like Alberto and Aspas but it shows no ambition if you want to win the League. Arsenal are aiming for the title while Liverpool are aiming for 6th-4th.

I'm not even going to talk about player performances either, because until the season starts the summer period is almost exclusively judged on off the pitch goings on. Giroud has looked world class in preseason but I have no doubt that he's a very limited player that shouldn't be Arsenals 1st choice striker and come the new season he won't be turning in the numbers he has done in preseason. Preseason games are only important to insecure fans that use it to cling on to false hope for the new season or as a stick to beat underperforming rival clubs with.

This summer only seems good to you because the past three summers you've bought in some horrific players. Just because its better than the days of Poulsen and Downing doesn't mean its good.

This whole Suárez situation has flushed whatever decent work you've done during the summer down the toilet.

We are in line to save around £350k a week from all of our departures, and that was before Chamakh and Gervinho being sold, plus we still have to get rid of Bendtner, so that'll round it up to at least £500k a week.

Edit: And Park. Definitely over £500k.

You're right, that would have been a nice gesture.

Fowler, Hamann, Macca, etc. vs. Flanagan, Shelvey, Coady, Robinson, etc.

It would be a close contest.

On face value, the younger guys have the edge. However, you have to consider the cocaine coefficient with Fowler, Hamann's skill in putting out cigarettes in his opponents' eyes, as well as Macca's magical tuxedos.
