Anime Thread

The main thing I dislike about Anime is the fact that you have to pay attention and read the subtitles cos it's in japanese.

Kinda harsh Che. Wolf Fang Fist was useful for around 20 episodes before Yamcha became everyone's bitch.

In my opinion I think it's best to watch them in Japanese. There are English dubs of course but I see Anime as a type of art, and I think it's best to see things in it's original form without it being changed much.

His wimpyness doesn't stop him from being one of my favorite characters.

Favorite characters:

Picolo, Yajirobe, Yamcha, Tien, Chiatzo, Krillin, Gohan and Trunks. The rest of the Z fighters can take a special beam cannon to the asshole.

Finished watching Mirai Nikki, too many feels bro

There's some really bad dubs out there, more than good ones anyway. But I'd still rather watch an English dub(With the annoying american accents) than have to read the subtitles all the time. That being said I don't watch all anime with English dubs, sometimes you can just tell the Japanese acting is better.

If the people who make the anime release an official dub, then it's normally alright.

The Naruto dub is quite terrible.

Is it? I don't want to watch Naruto or Bleach, mainly cos they've got millions of episodes.

You need to watch Mirai Nikki, made me really sad

I had forgotten how of an asshole young Krillin was.

I've watched the first few episodes of Naratu and Bleach but then it became to big for me and I moved on.

Kenichi da gawd.

Finished watching Kenichi: The Mighthiest Disciple. Wasn't expecting much when I started watching it but it was fun. I usually watch really serious "my girlfriend was rape and murdered, I'll never love again and I must avenge her" type animes so it was a pleasant change to see something a bit silly.

I've been humming this tune all week. Finally decided to put it on my iPod.

How the hell did you hum that?

Edit: I used to know all the words to the Evangelion theme.. Well I'd like to think I did.

This is a close second.


In my anime club, we all used to try and sign the japanese opening themes, especially when they have a karoke thing, fucking hilarious.

Started watching 'Fairy Tail'. Anyone seen that, seems pretty good?

I've seen a few episodes. My friend tried to get me into it because it's one of his favourites.

It's got about 150 episodes though.

I reaaaaalllyyyy don't understand where you're coming from with all this 'too many episodes' thing If an anime has more episodes that means it has a bigger, immersive plot and probably much deeper characters than an anime with say 26 episodes. Just take the time to watch the episodes and it pays off because that's the reason there is so many, because they are really good anime.

Not necessarily jord. If it has that many episodes it's possible that the storyline is dragged out, and it can become stale. Like Bleach. I liked the first couple of seasons but after like halfway through season 3 I lost interest.

Well that's one reason I'm weary of long anime the other is that I usually want to see something else after it's over but I like watching one thing at a time usually so I'd have to watch all 150 episodes before moving on.

I know what I said isn't completely right Usually if an anime has lots of episodes it means that there is plenty of fillers and padding to get through(This is the case with Bleach, Dragonball Z, Naruto etc)

I didn't mean to imply that because an anime is longer it is better. That was stupid of me

Bare in mind, I'm looking for Animes to use for my anime club next year, and It's frustrating for the people when you don't get to finish a series in a term.
