    Anime Thread Champloo3

People talked about making one a while ago, so...I don't know. Just felt like making it.

    Some recommendations then.

    Series

    Tokyo Majin
    Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Brotherhood starts off similar to FMA but when deviates wildly at about episode 10.)
    Corpse Princess
    Claymore
    Berserker
    Samurai Champloo
    Afro Samurai
    Afro Samurai: Resurrection
    Wolf's Rain (Depressing as hell)
    Casshern Sins (same as above)
    Blue Exorcist
    Death Note
    Trigun
    Gai-Rei Zero
    Basilisk

Then you have the long series that most people know, i.e. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece (not a fan myself), Rurouni Kenshin, YuYu Hakusho, Inuyasha, etc. There are a couple more out there that come highly recommended but I haven't watched them so I won't put them here.

    Movies

    Sword of the Stranger
    Everything by Hayao Miyazaki

That's all I can remember right now. So this thread is for more recommendations, discussion, random video posting and stuff. shifty

    I'm a huge Gundam fan.

Gundam Seed and the sequel Gundam Seed Destiny are the two best Anime Series I've ever watched IMO.

Liked Gundam when I was younger but I've kinda moved away from mecha anime since I've gotten older. Should give Gundam Seed a look though.

I'd call Pokemon a cartoon to be honest. Some people don't think there's a distinction but it exists.

I don't think I know how to look at Akira. That movie is hyped up beyond believe but when I watched it I was seriously disappointed. It was O.K. but not worthy of all the tags it gets as a great animated film.

Speaking of which, Paprika is a great film that I just remembered.

Might be overrated but it's still a great watch, in my opinion anyway. Definitely should be recommended for people that want to start watching anime.

Haven't watched the ones in bold out of that list. I'll probably watch Basilisk next.

Going to add some of my recomendations.

Cowboy Bebop(possibly my favorite anime of all time)
    Desert Punk
Samurai 7(based of the Akira Kurosawa's film from 1954 Seven Samurai)
Record of Lodoss War(this a fantasy anime sort of like the Dungeons and Dragons universe)
Record of Lodoss War:Chronicles of the Heroic Knight.
Baccano!(great anime, if you don't watch anything else on this list watch this one)
    Duraraa!!
High School of the Dead(this one is my guilty pleasure.)

I was too, which is the reason why I decided to rewatch it.

It's surprising how much more you understand from watching it from an older perspective than as a child. The series does very well to make you understand the characters, and feel what they are feeling as they fight in battle, as well as go in depth in the conflict and history between coordinators and naturals to keep things moving, add a major conspiracy and you get Gundam Seed. Razz Also, who doesn't enjoy mech battles? Laughing

Keep meaning to watch Wolf's rain. Watched a bit of FMA, got into it and then couldn't be arsed with it anymore. Neutral

Watched Elfen Lied a few weeks ago, was great. Anime doesn't do the manga justice though, way too short.

Pfft. No such thing as crying manly tears.

It's perspiration of the eyes. There is no thing manlier than sweat.

Just finished watching the 10th episode of Basilisk. My favorite characters have pretty much all died except for one. I'm just going to assume everyone dies except for like the two main characters. Neutral

I'm on episode 19 of Basilisk. I think I'll try to finish the series tonight or maybe tomorrow if I don't finish it tonight.

After pretty much the second episode you pretty much figure out the premise. Which is pretty much, "Romeo and Juliet with fucking ninjas!"

The whole thing is pretty tragic when you think about it and especially when you get to the few flashback episodes.
