Starts off with mysterious Zombies, kids who discover they have weird powers, and decide to investigate. Soon realize the zombies are the least of their worries as darker forces are at large.

Re: Anime Thread
Just been told that I have to stand up in morning assembly in front of the whole school to promote my 'Anime Club' activity. I feel sick. I couldn't stand up and tell the whole school to do something really cool, let alone telling them that I watch something that is stereotypically uncool/weird and telling them that i'm running an activity about it..

Just completed Gurren Lagann. I stopped after 5 episodes about a year ago and decided I'd watch the entire 27 after a friend recommended I should.

Re: Anime Thread
I though it was good, yeah However I thought things happened too fast, which is usually the problem with short anime. 3 episodes in and already everyone is ready to save the world. Regardless of pacing, I still enjoyed it.

Re: Anime Thread
I used to love Mecha anime and everything Mecha. Then I just grew out of it or something. I think it's because it's been done so much.
I got into seinen(grown up, animen targeted towards young men, focused more on story telling than other things) animes a bit ago, but I think I'm moving towards comedy a bit more nowadays. Haven't had anything catch my eye recently though, so I'm currently not watching anything.

Re: Anime Thread
Finished watching Ninja Scroll The Series.
Cons
Terrible English voice acting.
Meh writing.
Little to no character development.
Plot holes everywhere.
Pros
Some cool ideas.
Great artwork and design.
Lots of fighting.
The main character Jubei is bad ass.
So that's why I finished it. The original movie is worth a watch as well in my opinion. Going to finish watching Kiba now.

For all your GitS needs.

Two series + the movies. Never was a big fan of it myself. I really tried to like it because the material looked cool, but I just couldn't get into it. Same thing with Darker Than Black, Ergo Proxy, and Casshern Sins. Hate when that happens.

Re: Anime Thread
Finished with Kiba.
This could have been a really great show, a classic even, but it was let down by a couple of things.
1. Terrible English voice acting. Might be better in Japanese but even that doesn't much matter because of
2. Inconsistent quality in the writing
3. Plot holes
4. Extreme character changes that no explanation was given for.
5. For a show that came out in 2009, the complexity of the fighting animation is laughably bad at times.
Besides these issues, this show was quite enjoyable, and is better than most of the stuff out there IMO. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's very popular.

Re: Anime Thread
Too much magic, not enough axes.
Watched Pumpkin Scissors recently. The story line was kinda unique. Basically, the story begins after a big war between the Empire and the Federation(no it's not Star Wars) and the Empire is turned to shit. A War Relief Squad is made that go around trying to help people who were effected because of the War. And that's pretty much it.
Oh and there's this 7 foot Giant with a big pistol that single handily takes down tanks.

Re: Anime Thread
So, I usually don't follow the new anime that come out - I don't even do that for tv shows - but I kinda fell into it a bit this month. So the three that looks cool are:
[K] Project
Zetsuen no Tempest
Code Breaker
Actually, Zetsuen no Tempest's first episode if the most impressive 1st ep of anything that I've seen in a long time. Coolest part is 00:00-2:00.

Re: Anime Thread
My Asian friend got me into Bleach about about half a year ago. On about episode 90. Never really was into anime that much (probably because i've never really tried to watch it). But I actually quite like Bleach, probably because its more "mainstream" anime, if that's even a thing.
Kind of tedious watching such a long show though, but I don't want to just stop and start watching another.

Is anime similar to this scene from Kill Bill:
if so, I would watch. I love that scene, it's intense.

That's the reason why I haven't started watching Gintama or One Piece. It might be useful to watch only those long shows one storyline at a time.
I stopped at around episode 100 of Bleach. Lost interest. I know most of the story after that though since I was reading the manga (far ahead in terms of story) at the same time.

Finished Brutal Princess in one night the other day. It's only a 6 episode OVA. Could of been an interesting series. Alas, it ended almost as quickly as it began.
_____
Started watching Gunslinger Girl today, despite my fear of encountering loli centered content.
13 minutes in and it seems alright so far...

Re: Anime Thread
^^
Had so much potential. The animation style in the second season. (or perhaps animation deterioration) kinda ruined the series for me and I stopped after the second episode. The first 13 episodes were cool though. At first I found myself uncomfortable with the main character's clear infatuation with a much older male character but then as the story progress I found myself pitying her and pretty much everyone involved.
