Gatsby and Huck Finn are classics. Huck Finn is probably better if you've taken a bit of US History.

Just finished the first book in the Rigante series by David Gemmell. Pretty typical fantasy plot but I enjoyed it.

I'd probably prefer it if I was American and in the 1800's too. Don't understand half of what it says. Surprised it can even be classed as English. Phonetic spelling is one thing, but Mr Twain takes the piss a bit. Especially with Jim's dialogue. Can't understand what he says at all for most part of the book.

I didn't really like Huckleberry Finn either.

Currently reading Brave New World, I liked 1984 and this supposedly similar so..

Finished the First Law Trilogy. Liked it mostly. Only problem I had were the some of the one dimensional characters who figured prominently in the plot. There were almost caricatures.

Y'all need to read the book "Outliers". Some really interesting scientific and sociological studies in there. Will make you think. Reads fast too.

Just took me reading 190 out of 210 pages to see the irony in 'Less than Zero'. Changed how I viewed it quite a lot. Laughing

Missed this post. Got some way into it, but the plot with the girl bored me and I put it down. Always thought about trying it again but haven't gotten around to it. I'm a generally a Sanderson fan. His innovative take on fantasy is a breath of fresh air.

Doing a lot of multiple readings now. Mostly because I'm trying to be cheap. shifty

The Amulet of Samarkand is interesting. Will definitely try the other books.

I recommend that open-minded readers try Necrophilia Variations. It's beautifully written.

Is that the one about Bartimaeus? The other 2 in the trilogy were quite good.

Rei, her chapters bored more more often that not so I skimmed through most of them in the middle Laughing I did the same with Daenarys actually shifty

I am considering that. The book is already long, it doesn't need the phrase "I have the spirit of the dragon in me" repeated over and over again.

Read Fight Club and Mastering Your Hidden Self: A Guide to the Huna Way over about the last 7 days. First is obviously where the film comes from, latter is Polynesian mysticism/spirituality along with some psychology.

Got on a roll with reading at the moment, been reading about 2 books a week more or less.

A Clockwork Orange is still my favourite novel.

An Anatomy Of An Addiction: Sigmund Freud, William Halsted and the Mircacle Drug Cocaine.
Very interesting read, I knew little about Halsted, but to see the misuse and over prescription of drugs, and the effect on their careers was quite remarkable. The guy who wrote is pretty pretentious though, seems to insist on being called Dr/Professor.
