Rubbish. He was fit enough to end the season with Arsenal.

No he really wasn't, what evidence do you have to suggest otherwise

    The fact he played perhaps?

Really? Really? Does he have to collapse for you to conclude he was suffering from fatigue

No, but surely the Arsenal physio's would have spotted he was fatigued and told Arsene to rest him. Or are only Arsenal allowed to use him when he is fatigued?

He played as much as he was allowed, I'm pretty sure there's a difference between playing 45 or so games to playing 50+

    Poor argument there

    How is it poor?

He played the end of the season with Arsenal, no issues about fitness there. Yet, when England wanted him to play, he was in 'poor fitness' or whatever. I don't buy it.

He has played 5 times yet you're complaining that he doesn't take a step down to win a meaningless tournament? Sorry, but according to you finishing the season with Arsenal must mean he's capable of 5+ games

Yeah, that makes sense. If he's fit enough to play the latter part of the season with Arsenal (in a much more competitive, faster paced and highly skilled competition) then he is capable of playing in the under-21's tournament.

It's not uncommon for a player to suddenly become 'unfit' when the national team comes calling. He himself said he was fit enough, so why shouldn't he play? Because Arsenal said so?

    And that explains the farce.
