When Xavi says Scholes has been a rolemodel to him for the last 15-20 years then you know Scholes was something seriously special.

He was a great player and he has been a joy to watch for all of his long and hugely successful career. He will be missed.

I think Charlie Adam is a perfect replacement and has age on his side unlike Parker who is a bit older

The only time we've been "linked" with Nasri apart from papers printing shite is Evra saying he'd win trophies at United.grenade187 wrote:UTD have been trying to sign Nasri recently, Probably to replace Scholes.

Well theres been alot of news articles suggesting he has, and Wenger said something about him never selling Nasri UTD which would be a random thing to say unless there was actual interest.

Amazing? Hardly. Typical exaggeration after a player retires.Gegilworld93 wrote:my fave ManU player

Re: Scholes retires.
I know right, I hate the exaggerations myself when a player retires, as seen with Gary Neville earlier this season, he was fucking useless the few games he played in this season, but with Scholes it's different, he was never fast or anything, but he was still one of the best passers of the ball in world football (together with Pirlo and Xabi imo). And his shots are still top class as well, the goal he scored this season was a typical Scholes beauty, he's been around for so many years and I'll just miss him even though he played for a rival teamFanatic wrote:Amazing? Re: Scholes retires.
Obviously he's not what he was, but the talent was still there.. you just don't lose the class of passing and keeping the ball he's got, still one of the best at doing that.Fanatic wrote:Amazing? Hardly. Typical exaggeration after a player retires.Gegilworld93 wrote:my fave ManU player

But he hasn't got the legs to be as good any more.

Yeah but he wasn't being spoken about in such a high regard on his later career was he?Gegilworld93 wrote:

It's about all the years he's given us and how good he used to be.

Been a great player for united, could have had the team built around him had veron never joined back in 2001 when he was moved forward, one of the best passers to grace the Prem.

Scholes being replaced by Charlie Adam, I'm not sure whether I'm amused or disgusted by that.

it would be replacing a bit part player with no legs realistically.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Scholes being replaced by Charlie Adam, I'm not sure whether I'm amused or disgusted by that.

So because Scholes aged we should find a replacement that is good enough for when he was on the decline?
I might have missread what you said though.

Re: Scholes retires.
You're only replacing what you just lost. It's not like scholes leaves so you are so much weaker.. easily replaced.kyro7 wrote:What?The-Reporter wrote:it would be replacing a bit part player with no legs realistically.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Scholes being replaced by Charlie Adam, I'm not sure whether I'm amused or disgusted by that.

Re: Scholes retires.
Yeah I think we'll be able to get a player that will offer more to the team than Scholes can right now with his age unfortunately, but still we can't replace the kind of player he's been for us over the years.The-Reporter wrote:You're only replacing what you just lost. I don't think we'll sign a top midfielder tbh.
