Pretty much this, and his goal vs Ghana.Fine Shagger wrote:Ronaldo sticking 2 fingers up to the doubters in 2002.
I don't think I can forget the dummy from Rivaldo and Ronaldo scoring the winner.

Beckham penalty vs argentina in 2002
I think generally for me 1998 was the best World Cup i've watched overall.

gerrard giving us the lead after only 2 minutes against the yanks...for a moment it looked like we looked like the real deal
Beckham's freekick sending us to the world cup in the final minute

Re: Best memory of the world cup?
I have three standout one's, all quite weird.
I remember my mum coming to pick me up from school and telling me France had just lost to Senegal in the opening game of the 2002 World Cup. I proceeded to run around school telling anybody and everybody.
I also remember coming in extra early to watch Germany vs Ireland and the whole school (Catholic and full of Plastic Paddies) went absolutely mental when Robbie Keane scored in injury time.
Final one was I remember lying on some shitty sofabed in some shitty Cornish cottage watching Rio 'score' against Denmark and then do that cringeworthy dance.
Oh and I also remember going absolutely mental when Beckham scored that free-kick to take us to the World Cup against Greece.

Re: Best memory of the world cup?
It's a shame, if you talk to a 15 year old English kid and ask him what his best World Cup memory is he'll either say Defoe scoring the winner against Slovenia, an own goal for England against Paraguay, or Beckham's goal against Ecuador.

Not many good memories being an England fan in recent times, as ResurrectionRooney said.
Probably Beckahm's freekick against Ecuador in 2006.

Beating Mexico 2-0 in the round of 16 in '02.
Landon's goal vs Algeria.
Rob Green's fail.
I could say hosting in '94, but I was 4.

It's not aimed at you at all you bell end, it's just an age I picked where I thought people wouldn't be able to remember what had happened in the World Cups before 2006. Evidently you do remember something of the 2002 World Cup, so if I'd known your age I wouldn't have picked that age. If I am aiming something at you, it won't be ambiguous.

Hmm, tough one. It's between Defoe scoring the winner against Slovenia, an own goal for England against Paraguay, or Beckham's goal against Ecuador.

Re: Best memory of the world cup?
The whole 2006 World Cup for me was brilliant. Had BBQ's for each of Englands first 4 games. Then for the Portugal game we drove to Germany (Me, Dad and his mate) and watched the game in the Fan Fest at Gelsenkirchen. Best memory of football ever for me. The atmosphere was just incredible. Definately going to follow England at all the major Championships when i'm older.
Other than that, I remember watching Turkey v South Korea 3rd/4th place in 2002 before my Mum and Dad got married.
Went into school at 6am to watch England v Nigeria.
Before the Trinidad game in 2006, me and my mates just ran round our village blowing horns and waving massive flags and tried getting loads of cars that passed us to beep there horn to go du du du du du du du du du then we'd shout England!
Raced home on my bike after every exam to watch the games last summer with my mates. Had a few BBQ's and beers for the games aswell. Did the horn things to cars aswell as we went along to A52
Went to a Carvery which is 2 miles out from my village on the day of the Brazil North Korea game for my mates birthday (told her not to do it on a matchday). And we missed the bus back and the next one was half an hour away so they all walked back whilst I ran home to watch the game.
After the Slovenia game me and my mates were in a good mood and we went and played football, all dressed in our England tops and pretending we were an England player
Watched the Germany game in the pub and some fit drunk woman about 21 started dancing with me at the bar when I was trying to get an orange juice
World Cups are brilliant. I love the 2006 World Cup game on PS2 aswell.
