Your best football memory. Empty Your best football memory.

Post by Guest Wed Dec 01, 2010 3:46 am

I'll have to go for Liverpool winning the European Cup in 2005, no doubt about it. I watched it at a friends house, with about 20 other lads and only 3 of us were Liverpool supporters. Most of the rest where Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal fan boys and all of them were dying for Liverpool to lose.

As you can imagine, the banter was aplenty. One of my mates stood in front of the telly just before kick off and said to us Liverpool fans, "you don't mind if we celebrate AC Milan's goals, do you lads?" Which was followed by some cheering and clapping. They were doing all they could to wind us up.

    1-0

    2-0

    3-0

    Half-Time.

It was a Liverpool fan's worst nightmare. Us three Reds were sat in our seats just feeling completely deflated. The rest of the lads were jumping up and about, cracking jokes at every possible opportunity. Re-enacting Crespo's chipped goal with a cushion and basically rubbing it in.

Then, I think it was Steve Mcmanaman who at half time said something along the lines of "If AC can score 3 in one half, then why can't Liverpool in the second half?"

This was followed by jeering and laughter. But for me, it instilled hope.

The crowd singing You'll Never Walk Alone was amazing, the whole room went silent. Kick Off.

By the time it was 3-2, suddenly everyone in the room was a Liverpool fan. Instead of winding up us and jeering, everyone was celebrating our goals and getting really excited.

3-3 We tore the roof down.

Dudek's double save, I nearly fainted.

I'll never be able to describe how I felt as the last Penalty was saved and Liverpool had won.

Greatest Liverpool related night of my entire life.

I rambled on a bit there, just wondering what other people's best memories in football were?

My second game ever at Highbury. Tony Adams being put through near the end and smashing it in against Everton, we won 4-0 and lifted the title that day. It was brilliant. Your best football memory. 688105

I just wish I was alive for Anfield '89, what a moment that must of been. Sad

When Chelsea won the league in 2005, was fucking class.

Although if it wasn't for a certain invisible banana that John Terry managed to slip on, I would have said the 08 UCL final Sad

    December 2004 Sheff Wed away.

    Cold, wet, windy night.
The tigers in 3rd place, Wednesday just outside the playoffs. Game delayed 15 minutes.

28000 attendance with over 7000 Tigers there.

    We go 1-0 down early
    Keane score a pen
    Barmby scores 1
Barmby scores another - an amazing volley just before half time
Half time - still massive amounts of City fans coming into the stadium after missing an amazing first half. At this point police opened the bit that was seperating City and Wednesday fans, we'd already filled the bottom and top tiers. At this point I reckon there is about 7500 Hull fans in the away end - Considering it was a night game, horrible weather and our average attendance was something like 18000 at home, this was amazing.

Last 10 mins Wednesday score to make it 3-2 but City hit straight back and finish the game off 4-2.

Most amazing night of my life - Forget winning at Wembley, forget going 2 up at Anfield, forget beating Arsenal at Emirates, forget scoring 3 at Old Trafford, forget getting a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Hillsborough is the one game i'm so glad I was at.

We should of won that game too, we outplayed you. Laughing We didn't win 3-0 at OT. We scored 3, we lost 4-3 but we was the first team to score 3 there since Real Madrid a few years before that, we lost but it felt pretty decent still.

I've seen Watford get promoted at the old Wembley in '99 and Millennium in '06.

I think the Millennium one was better as I was older and a more diehard fan.

We were outnumbered by cocky Leeds fans and were written off by most, but we absolutely smashed Leeds 3-0, Demerit's headed goal caused an uproar and all the fans around us fell forward off their seats yippee

Its the thing off Soccer Saturday where they are watching each game. Merson had the Man U v Hull game.

When it went 1-0 he said it was game over.

But the best bit was at 4-3 in stoppage time. "They're pushing forward Jeff, they're pushing forward Hull" yippee

    Hmm

Celtic v Boavista UEFA Cup semi final, when Larsson scored in the 80th minute I went mental

For Chelsea, I would say either the victory against Arsenal in the CL (with Wayne Bridges goal) or else winning the league at Bolton in 2005.

If I was actually a Chelsea fan I'm sure I would've really enjoyed this....:

Me and my mate (Chelsea fan) went to Fulham on the last day of last season to go to a local bar and get some atmosphere for the Wigan game. The pub was completely packed.....and all kinds of chants were being cheered. With every goal came crazy celebration.....beer flying all over the place etc. It was 8-0 so that was a lot of beer covered over me Laughing

2006 World Cup against Portugal. I know it wasn't a good result for England but as I was there and witnessed the atmosphere of a World Cup, I'll never forget it. Absolutely brilliant.

For Forest, it has to be 03.05.08. Forest 3-2 Yeovil. Got promotion on the last day of the season after Doncaster lost 2-1 at Cheltenham. Looking back now, I can't actually believe it was only 2 years ago. We've improved so much since then it's unreal. Would never of thought in a million years we could attract players such as Gunter, Blackstock, Earnshaw, Ramsey, McKenna etc 2 years ago.

And as a neutral fan, i'll never forget watching Liverpool win the CL in 2005. I was in Mexico at the time, so watched it on Eurosport in the hotel room at about 2pm, and although me and my dad both support Forest, we were going crazy when Liverpool brought it back, Dudeks saves in Extra time. Best game of Football of all time imo.
