Yh, because you can generalise a League after watching a few games? I've never understood that.Dan wrote:Fanatic wrote:How many games have you seen?Tom wrote:I still think the bundesliga is rubbish though, would rather Serie A
I never understand this.
If he says he finds it boring, obviously enough to know he finds it boring.

Yeah, you can form an opinion over the course of a few games. Opinions form quite easily you know.

But can you generalise a league after a few games? No, that's ignorant.Dan wrote:Fanatic wrote:Yh, because you can generalise a League after watching a few games? How many games would you need to watch before having an opinion Fanatic?

There's not a definite number of games, but if you have only seen like 10 games then you need to hush up.JMB_94 wrote:How many games would you need to watch before having an opinion Fanatic?

It took me a couple of games under Roy Hodgson to find his style of play boring. Is that ignorant?

I'm talking about a WHOLE league, I'f you haven't seen a varied amount of teams after a multitude of games and make generalise the league that's ignorant.

Hardly. I could watch 1 game of the Chinese League and find it boring.
Why? Because it doesn't appeal to me.
That ignorant?

German league > Italian league.

Yh, because the teams involved were boring or you found that match was boring. What about the other teams in the League?Dan wrote:Fanatic wrote:Different scenario.Dan wrote:It took me a couple of games under Roy Hodgson to find his style of play boring. Is that ignorant?

Also, Barca played shit in a match (the only match I have seen), the whole league is boring now? Exactly.

What exactly are u arguing here
Do you know whether we've seen it once or a 100 times? no
Does it satisfy your welfare knowing that we have watched the invisible amount of games we're supposed to before we make judgements?
Does that not happen the majority of the time when people make assessments?
Pointless argument

You miss my point.
If I was to turn a Chinese League game on, I would find it boring, not because of the teams, but because the league itself doesn't appeal to me. Is that ignorant?

Just like I know that a root canal isn't going to appeal to me. Maybe he likes it more if he has some sort of connection to the teams or the cities they play in and the players who play in it.

Well for one they represent part of the league which is back onto Dan's point about Hodgson

I think that you should watch quite a few matches involving quite a few different teams before making your mind up on the standard of the league overall.
A foreign person might watch a match between Fulham and Blackburn (just examples, I don't want an argument about those teams) which ends 0-0, and think that the whole of the Premier League is rubbish, they might watch more matches and keep the same opinion, but they might change their mind.
At the end of the day it gets dark and it's all down to personal preference, some people can watch a slower tempo or different style of football, or whatever else you call it, and enjoy it, but some people want more end-to-end football.
No point arguing over it tbh.

The examples you have given are out of context, those things are obviously not appealing. How could you possibly know if a League is boring if you haven't watched enough to make a satisfactory judgement? Appealling and boring are two different things.

They don't represent the league. One team is one component of a whole league.Tom wrote:Fanatic wrote:But, how do you know the League wont appeal to you if you haven't watched the league?Dan wrote:Fanatic wrote:Yh, because the teams involved were boring or you found that match was boring. It's like arguing about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You can't really tell somebody "you're wrong. You do like PB&J." Can ya?

I think Bundesliga is a better league than Serie A
However I also think Serie A is more entertaining
At the same time I also think Bundesliga is really entertaining in a different way
ahh opinions make simple things messy.

Ah ok. Sorry for being anal.
Anyway, it's not bad logic. If you know you hate bread, then you know a PB&J is going to suck ass.

People here (well mainly the anti English Polska and Mauro) are blasting people for sterotyping Italian football as 'slow' and 'boring', yet seem perfectly happy to resort to their own sterotypes of English 'hoofball'.
