Watching sky italia, italy really needs to do something to revamp how the product looks, was hoping getting euro 16 would do that, but it went to france.

It is all about tempo for me. Serie A tends to be alot slower, just like La Liga is. Whereas English football is alot faster and more exciting.
I guess I prefer counter attacking football.

im italian anyway so i will always enjoy serie a, but ialso like la liga and bundesliga, i used to watch ligue 1 all the time until they stopped showing it and that is a league with least goals scored in entire europe but the technique and magician player is nice to watch. i also watch copa libertadores when i have nothing else to do and its always nice to watch. i watch some local a-league to but not all the time, quality is not great but is still OK. its just those bottom and midtable epl clubs i havbe no enjoyment watching them play aerial ping pong. those clubs so revolved around money and "surviving the drop" that they try to win by any means which mostly equate to long balls, "tough" player etc
That is what football has come to. You can't blame clubs for wanting to keep their club alive, even if it means playing unattractive football. For alot of clubs in the Premier League, going down would have a devastating impact if they didn't come straight back up.
Leeds, Sheff Wed, Charlton, Sheff Utd, Forest, Derby, Watford etc etc etc all have had problems once getting relegated.

The Premiership reminds me good 'ole FIFA '94. The passing function on that version sucked ass, so you just had to hoof it everytime you got the ball. It wasn't very sophisticated. It was arcadish, but it was a lot more fun than the contemporary versions of the game.

Watching Serie A you really get entertained through watching teams play.
I get entertained by the intelligent moving, the connected passing and
the possession changing every 30 seconds. Whilst watching the EPL, it
feels like the game has a short-attention span and must boot the ball up
to get something happening quickly, though unintelligently. What pisses
me off is that even teams like Tottenham who have tried to atleast make
longball 'aerial pingpong' work, can't even do it intelligently like a
true longball side like Bilbao can. Longballs are alright, just another
tactic, IF DONE CORRECTLY and INTELLIGENTLY. Not like dumb caveman
booting it up 50 meters for the possibility of your striker beating his
man and getting it for 90 minutes.
dena wrote:Problem is, 'slow' is not a good adjective to describe Serie A "slower" when used to compare to other leagues is alright to me, but slow... no. Goals are a tough thing to judge anything on, but when you look at attacking moves, and goals, and things like that, how can you call it slow.
That goal took incredible speed of mind, feet, and play. I just can't see how some can generalize.

Oh yah, and this is another thing. SERIE A IS NOT SLOW. It is only has a slow tempo in the midfield where the genius in tactics and individual brilliance takes place. Once a team outdoes the other they make a quick break away. Many players in Serie A have insane speeds, Krasic, Vargas, Lavezzi, Marchionni, Sanchez and a host of other attacking players are very very fast. For me Serie A is brilliant because of this, it is entertaining watching teams defend, fight in the midfield and attack. For me it seems like I said, to watch a lower EPL side, you need to have a small attention span to get excited at watching. Anyway that is what I think of the two leagues.
Perhaps the idea of EPL being more exciting is because things move quicker up and down the pitch. For me, Serie A is exciting in a different kind of way, with action in all areas of the pitch.

That is the reason I find it more exciting. This doesn't mean I enjoy long ball... Quick counter attacks where passes are made along the floor are what I like, and this does happen despite what you foreigners seem to think.
West Brom(before Hodgson) Wigan, Bolton try to play like that. Wolves have changed from the hoof it team they where last year. Blackpool play quick passing football.
You tell us to stop stereotyping the Serie A when you foreigners do the exact same thing to the Premier League.

Oh no, I don't think many of us denied some teams play like that. We were just generalizing for the sake of making a point.
I highly respect Holloway's blackpool side.

I will generalise the league because from what I have seen (a range of teams from Bari and Brescia to Milan and Inter) the matches were absolutely dire. I found the tactics very negative and the intensity of the match leaves a lot to be desired. It's a wearisome league, imo.

Btw, I love how people are sugar coating Serie A's negative tactics by calling it intelligent play. LOL.

Blackpool are actually a pretty good team to watch.
Try to play passing football but play the ball fast anyway.
The thing with slow build up play is that it allows the defence to organise themselves....playing quicker football can catch the defence out.

I like how to some, not booting the ball up = negative play.

Keeping the ball around the back and playing a defensive game (which is apparently called a tactical masterclass in Italy) is negative.
To answer the question. No, it isn't a myth. I don't enjoy it.

They hardly keep the ball back. Most action happens in the center of the pitch.

At the back or in the middle....don't want to see that the good action is in/around the box.

I haven't seen anyone advocating hoofing up the ball as attacking football so please point me to where these people are.

It's not like they keep the ball and pass it around like Barca do.Luxz0rz wrote:polska. wrote:They hardly keep the ball back. Most action happens in the center of the pitch.

When not in possession, the team fights for it, closing down the opposition tackling etc. Possession changes very quickly and very fast back and forth. It is entertaining.
Watch Villarreal vs Napoli, (yes I know Villarreal aren't Italian.) They provide a great example of what I mean. The whole game was played as such. It was quite chaotic.
They haven't, though it does appear as anything other than booting the ball up, and quick Arsenal like passing and counterattacking is negative to some people.Fanatic wrote:Where exactly are these people?polska. wrote:I like how to some, not booting the ball up = negative play.

Besides, I wasn't making a point, just a sad troll attempt.

If it was more attractable it would be better for marketing, if it was better for marketing it would probably suggest more viewers.
Nice little story I have going on here

People defend Serie A and tell English people not to generalise it at "slow and boring" but at the same time generalise English football as "kick and rush". Hypocrites.

By being a more attractive league.
It's no shock Germany have overtaken them. Serie A is in decline.

I never understand this.
If he says he finds it boring, obviously enough to know he finds it boring.
