You say he has the best win percentage. However, under his captaincy, England failed to qualify for 50% of tournaments entered. One of the worst records as a captain in recent years.

Oh yeah, I forgot, it's Terrys job to do the tactics for games, pick the teams etc.

    No.

Also, there's been 2 comps since he's been captain. One of them when we had the Wolly with the Brolly in charge, who Terry personally endorsed his sacking. You're trying to shoot me down for using shit stats?

Jesus christ Luke. Use that head of yours.

I posted a deliberately shit stat, it's about as useful as yours. Because yours is shit.

Like you said, Terry doesn't pick the team, the tactics. So why should win percentage come into it?

Anyway, if he publically endorsed the sacking of a manager, it's not very good leadership material is it?

    Well... it is actually.

Is it though? Undermining the manager is good leadership material?

Obviously you and me have different ideas of what a leader is.

So you're saying Ryan Babel should be England captain?

Well someone had to say it, he's not scared to voice his opinion - and maybe the opinion of the whole squad, who might not have been able to say it in public.

And it's highly likely more was said behind closed doors too.

Yes, it was. However, that does not give an exuse to any captain to come out and publically undermine the manager.

If Gerrard came out and said something about Roy when he was in charge, I'd have been furious with him.

    facepalm

    11 players, 1 manager.

That's all that is needed. Terry shouldn't have undermined the manager. Everything he said should have been said behind closed doors and nothing in public. It was obvious McClaren wouldn't last.

He did it at the World Cup as well. Awful leadership in both aspects.

Not really. The answer was pretty obvious, yet barely relevant.

Bridge was nowhere near the squad when he retired.

Yes he was, he was our second choice LB behind Ashley Cole.

Wasn't Cole feared to miss the world cup after an injury and Capello wanted Bridge just in case?

It shows that he is a good leader because he is willing to attack the man who the FA charged with being in complete control of the team. Neutral

Luke is forgetting what England Captain is. It is the best responability to fall to an English player. It comes with great responability and Terry blown it with his personal life. He tarnished our country, the team ect ...

The england captain should be givin the an honoust person, not someone who wins stuff.
