Yes if Rio can captain England after being banned for 8 months why can't Terry?

He's easily the best natural leader in the squad.

Just because he's done off-field dramatics doesn't mean he shouldn't be captain. Rio didn't take a drugs test, Gerrard beating people up. They've still captained since Terry, even Lampard has and he's just been banned from driving for speeding. Nobody is perfect, but Terry is the best leader England have.

Self-defence. People make a big deal because he's famous and he should've just took a beating. Poor Stevie was just thinking of England, because he wouldn't have been able to play if he was in hospital from that savage manc twat.

Wait, so we shouldn't have captains at all in football now then? Great idea.

Just goes to show how shit the media in this country is.

I said the natural leaders are gonna do their thing with or without the armband. So why's it matter so much.

    Biased thread.

You are comparing a captain who captained 28 games, to one that captained 90 and 59. It's a hell of a lot easier to have a better record in less games. He's nowhere near our best captain ever. England's Brave John Terry is a good leader no doubt, but he's had his chance and he blew it, he damaged the team, that is unacceptable.

And if you're the captain people are going to listen to you over someone else..

Captains have the most authority, and Terry is the one in the best position to use it right.

Ratio. Also, what are we going to do, bring back Bobby Moore to captain?

Terry is the best captain England have at the minute. Fact.

I think he should be the captain as he is the best we could have out of the current players, but he shouldn't be given it or it would just show there's no discipline in the England squad at all.

Oh yes. The fantastic captain that made one of our players retire from international football. Top class captaining that is.

Ferdinand can't play vs Wales, and playing in just 4 out of 13 games since Terry was sacked as capt isn't great.

I wouldn't want Gerrard to be captain. I'd rather him be used as the main man in his favourite position, rather than having the pressure of being captain and stuck out on the wing, when he's clearly, imo, our most talented player.
