Negative. I was born in Glasgow and my family supports Rangers so I do as well. If I was a gloryhunter I wouldnt be supporting a Scottish team thats for sure. The Scottish league gets so much flack for being shit so I dont think anybody who lives in Scotland and supports a Scottish team is a gloryhunter. Well unless you live up north ad your family supports Inverness and you support Rnagers or Celtic because their winning the league

    I only asked. Run

Unfortunately there are loads of old firm fans in Inverness. You're more likely to see someone with a Rangers shirt on walking down the high street than a Caley top.

I love and support HEREFORD UNITED not necessarily the players playing for hereford united. I'd still support Hereford if it was made up of 1-legged Iranians.

Footballers and fans aren't the same.

Footballers are hired by the club to do a job.....fans are supposed to be part of the club, the community etc......

Footballers can be both but that's not required of them.

Being a footballer is a JOB.....in the end that's his livelihood where as being a football fan is a part of your life, who you are, your community bla bla.

You can't call people "greedy cunts" for taking a job with more money......because money is what everyone wants and that's just how the job market works.

Success comes in handy too.....but all footballers player football because it's a job first. Take the money out and no matter how much glory is in it you wouldn't find people doing it so much, if at all. Take the glory out of football and it's still a very lucrative business.......great salary etc.

People can do what they want....and that's why us local, loyal match going fans can have our heads held high. When fans of the top 4 act superior just because they team they "support" is better I just feel sorry for them because they're not into the great game as much as me obviously if glory is what matters most to them.

It's frustrating because you'll support a club, have done for years, then some twat will come along and act all superior because he supports a top 4 side. These people aren't proper fans.

When I go to Uni, I obviously won't be able to get a Forest season ticket anymore. As I want to go to Leeds Uni, I was thinking that, if I didn't have a job that was on a Saturday, then I wouldn't mind going to Elland Road to watch Leeds. Not to support them or be a fan, but just to be able to watch a football match live, seeing as I won't get to see Forest.
What would that make me, as it isn't my local club, and I won't be gloryhunting.

Laughing It's not worth it anyway. There is no way I would pay £35 to watch a team as shite as us unless I actually supported them.

My one regret when living in Poland is that I didn't go to many away games with Wisla.

Train system at the time in Poland was pretty shit. Not worth the hassle. But now they are building high-speed trains (which should be completed by EURO2012 Smile) so if I were to return to Poland, I would go to away games. Smile

James so what if i decided to support a team in finsbury park, the team I play for over Arsenal.. Would you still persist over me supporting "my closest team"

If I don't like my "closest team" but I focused on them would I be a supporter? no I would be a follower

James if you're channelling your anger into man utd/chelsea fans ect because they don't live or haven't lived in areas of their team they just say that jesus.

I support my local team Arsenal but I wasn't born in north london, I supported them from my family in Essex but moved when i was 2. If anything I am a glory hunter fortunate enough to live in the same area as Arsenal, me + mal ect don't go banging about it so calm down

But my question comes down to James' constant claims that you should only support your local team. And that if you DON'T support your local team, then you're more than likely, a "Glory Hunter".

But I find inklings of contradiction in this kind of statement. I mean, he says people should support their local team, yet he has a picture of a foreigner in a Hull kit as his signature.

That brings me to the point of making this thread.

What's the point of bollocking a fan for being a "Glory Hunter" .. if footballers themselves are the biggest Glory Hunters of them all?

Massive contradiction to call someone a Glory Hunter, whilst at the same time, support a foreigner who plays for your team. Foreigners are not local.

What I don't get about people who glory hunt is how is it fun supporting a team where you're expected to win every game, 2 losses means your in a crisis, etc.

If you look at the term "glory hunter," it is literally someone hunting for glory. If you live in Asia or America etc and start watching Man Utd and supporting them, then maybe you can be called a glory hunter. But if you stay passionate about them and stick with them then you're not hunting anymore. If you chop and change every couple of seasons, then you are a glory hunter, because you keep hunting for that glory.

That's my take on it at least. It does irk me when people say they support Man Utd and then ask me what their position is, but if they're going to do that, let them. I don't see why people like James need to act like they personally want to change the team of everyone they deem a glory hunter. -_-
