If you chop and change every couple of seasons, then you are a glory hunter, because you keep hunting for that glory.

That's my take on it at least. It does irk me when people say they support Man Utd and then ask me what their position is, but if they're going to do that, let them. I don't see why people like James need to act like they personally want to change the team of everyone they deem a glory hunter. -_-

Thats what I've been doing for years. Every time that I've met somebody from overseas one of the first things i ask them is if they watch football. Of course they call me a "glory hunter" and "plastic" because of who i support, but that attitude towards me quickly changes when they realize that maybe this fucking dumb yank might know more about the game than they do.

But i completely understand where most of you are coming from....there is nothing worse than a Cowboys, Notre Dame/Ohio State, Yankees, or Lakers fan...

Nothing wrong with supporting who you want, just as long as you stick with that club whatever happens to them. And well the biggest clubs in the world are big cause they have people from all over the World supporting them. Rolling Eyes

I say glory hunting is usually done when your a kid - as a kid you only like winners and don't appreciate the romance of supporting an underdog nor different aspects of clubs such as history/tradition of which you admire and can relate to...

Always supported Liverpool, my family always supported Liverpool. I go to all the European home games, and about 1/4 of the home games a season, plus the odd away game.

I have my favourite team outside England, such as teams I enjoy watching. My first non Liverpool shirt was a Real Madrid one, back in 2003. I couldn't support a team outside my country, I just couldn't. You don't get the same buzz as supporting a team that the stadium is only ten minutes away from were I live.

No one actually does this though. A glory hunter is someone who has no connection to the team and initially supports the team because they are in the hunt for trophies.

In my dad's time, Poland was similar.

In Silesia there was a huge concentration of clubs in and around the Katowice area. Gornik Zabrze, Ruch Chorzow, Piast Gliwice, Odra Wodzislaw, GKS Katowice, Polonia Bytom, Zagielbie Sosnowiec, GKS Tychy and probably some others i've missed. Alot of people also switched support inbetween these clubs, particularly for Gornik Zabrze and Ruch Chorzow, which were Poland's two superpowers at the time, and actually competing actively in Europe for European trophies.

I never hear the term plastic used IRL. I only heard of it on the EA forums. Everyone just calls what you would call a plastic a glory hunter.

Better to follow a club through its highs and lows.

Makes actually winning a trophy all the sweeter.

This, getting promotion was an amazing feeling back in the days of conference football. At the playoff final there was grown men crying!

if bury go up to league 1 the whole buzz will be amazing.
I remember when we played shrewsbury years ago even though we lost on pens Sad the whole thing of the journey up is like nothing else and id rather not be fighting for trophies every year cos if u win one once in a blue moon then it is much better and u savour the moment.
