How can that be do they all support Manchester.United or Chelsea cause they have won the most recently i mean Liverpool have not won anything since 2006 and i still see a lot of Liverpool fans on here, and im not saying people should not support United or Chelsea as long as you never change teams as a fan cause its the people that change team thats a glory hunter to me.

Glory hunter doesn't have to support the current top teams. Supporting a team that is more likely to win something or be challenging for trophies over your local team is glory hunting.

I was going to complain about yet another gloryhunting thread but even that's been done so much it's a cliche.

There's beating a dead horse and then there's pummelling the thing into dust.

As long as you love the club then you're not a glory hunter IMO. A glory hunter is someone who will change teams because of success. Maybe some people started supporting Arsenal in the 03/04 season, beautiful football, unbeaten league campaign, league title and if they're still supporting Arsenal now then they can't be a glory hunter surely?

I have a friend who supported Manchester United, United shirts and even United wallpaper in his room, towards the end of the 04/05 season he came in to school with a Chelsea coat on. He then denied that he ever supported United, saying that his mum thought he supported them so she bought him shirts etc.. That is a glory hunter!

Disagree Mal. If you are choosing a big team over the a local club then you are still a glory hunter. Glory doesn't have to be just winning trophies, it can be a team that just simply wins more or plays in a higher league.

If I suddenly became a Leeds fan i'm pretty sure that would make me a glory hunter.

It's pretty hard to support your local team if there's no one else in your family to support it with you. When I was a kid my local team was probably Colchester, but why would I ever support them? I've never known a Colchester fan or known anything about them.

My dad was a City fan though, so I supported them. Moved back up here when we were hovering around division one (still went downhill from there) and still supported them, always have always will.

I started a similar thread some time ago and got bashed all around but i did learn something. I live in India and i support man united, like for 10 years now. The thing is when you're a kid and you watch football on TV you always like those teams whom you hear of the most or the ones matches which are being telecasted the most. You get attached to them. No offense but they are never going to show a match Coventry City or Hull city played here in India. i have this Channel "TENSPORTS" subscribed and they have been showing a lot of MUTV programs since 2002. I got attached to man united.

Will i ever change my mind and support any other team? NO!
Am i as good as a Real Man United Fan who lives in Manchester and goes to games every time he gets a chance? NO.
Am i a glory hunter? Yes, initially i was but back in those days i didn't even know what they won what they didn't. SO i am not actually GLORY hunting.

I have friends here who are Blackburn Rovers Fans just because they have INDIAN owners. People support teams for all sorts of crazy reasons, don't assume they are doing it only cos they are Glory hunters.

Football is a perfect example of Globalization. Most of the clubs are run by owners who come for different countries, you need that fucking money to run your club, you might as well start accepting that your club will always have foreign fans. Not many of these clubs are run by people who have originated from the same city and are die hard supporters of the Club. I think people should just except the fact that we "GLORY HUNTERS" are going to out number you "REAL FANS" any day and that you need our money to run your club.

Also, James, will you have a problem if a guy from India supported Hull city or is it just Man united or Chelsea or Barca that irritates you?

You can support who you want as long as you love that club. It's not glory hunting, you might just get attached to one club, loads of people support Liverpool and United because of their rich histories and how the clubs are run (not so much now). Liverpool will always be a bigger club than Chelsea because of history and someone starting to support Liverpool now is hardly glory hunting.

Someone said it on the last page and I agree. Watching a game on a Stream is so shit. I watched our win against Derby away on a stream and it didn't feel anything like watching a win down the City Ground. I feel sorry for gloryhunters, they'll never experience all the emotions you get with football. Nothing beats surviving a relegation scrap on the last day of the season, or pipping Doncaster to 2nd place on the last day of the season as they failed to win at Cheltenham whilst your team come out on top against Yeovil in an end to end game that finishes 3-2. I love it.

Blackburn have Indian owners then I understand why people would look to support Blackburn in India. But your reason for supporting Man U was purely because they where the best club at the time.

If an Indian support Hull, I have no idea how I would react. It would depend on his reasons.

Its not the glory hunting that bothers me, it is the ones that bash my club or me for supporting them which DOES happen on these forums. Once one person does that then I will then point out every glory hunter that supports that team also.

Some people do go to games, it's expensive you know. An Arsenal home season ticket is £1300. I only go to away games but I'm still spending around £3000 a year. If I went to every single game I'd be spending £4300 a year, if it wasn't for my dad having to pay half my rent laugh I would only be able to go to like 4 games a season.

If anything its a great example, what if a kid from America loves football just as much as us but doesn't have a local team, what does he do? Turns on the telly and starts watching the Premier League or other top leagues, same with Australia to an extent.
