Cole hasn't done anything compared to Marcelo and right now Marcelo is better than Cole but I don't even think he's the world's best LB but whatever. I simply think he's been better than Cole from this season onwards.

Also half a season can make you someone you didn't used to be, (Cole) If Cole continued his form from last season I wouldn't say Marcelo is better than him right now but he didn't which is what makes me say Marcelo is better than him.

And therefore we agree on the second half of your line? Cole is good, but he isn't amazing.

Maybe he isn't as good as his predecessors. But that doesn't mean he isn't the best of todays footballing world. Marcelo may be having a better season, but let's see if he can keep it consistent for as long as Cole has.

Luke if we're going to do it this way, then Roberto Carlos is still the worlds best LB, heck he'd be considered as the best if he played for a bigger club atm as he's still amazing.

Not necessarily, no. The guy has to retire one day, and he will retire in his native Brazil.

Brazil Serie A is a really good league. Roberto Carlos is still class there even at his age, i'd expect him to be class in Europe as well if he still played there. I wouldn't say he'd be #1 if he were playing in Europe, but he'd be top 5 still I would imagine.
