Obviously, but average league positions does generally mean a lack of trophies.

Re: Chris Hughton sacked by Newcastle.
Real Socidad were in Europe 6 years ago, doesnt mean much.
They are big in England but in the grand scheme of things they are obviously not one of the biggest in Europe, despite a good attendance. I've haven't been a fan of they way they've been run in the past few years, mainly because it's been disproportionate to their size, and has caused them to collapse. I'd be less surprised in Carlo Ancelotti was sacked tbh.

Tbh, they've been going down hill ever since they sacked Bobby Robson. I don't give a toss how old he was at the time, him getting sacked was a ridiculous decision.

Re: Chris Hughton sacked by Newcastle.
So the size of a club is purely down to attendance?
Because Newcastle have fuck all else going for them.

Newcastle aren't a small club, simple as that

Ahh yes, in Europe 7 years ago, and can occasionally attract big names. Biggest transfer of theirs in recent memory is Colocinni surely?
So in other words, yes that was only thing you mentioned. Well, the only one worth talking about anyway.

Look who they've signed in the past. Shearer, Owen, Kluivert (he even rejected United 98! )...
Newcastle are a big club, not really a good team

Just because Newcastle haven't won anything, came close to winning anything, got into Europe etc.. in the since the early 2000s doesn't mean they're a small club

You're bringing up signings from 6 years ago mate.
(16 in Shearer's case).
Yeah they're attracting big names.

Re: Chris Hughton sacked by Newcastle.
So what makes Newcastle big? Those signings aren't really anything to be honest, Kluviert got dumped after he left Barcelona and sucked for the rest of his career, Shearer went back to his hometown club. Owen, alright I guess he was a big name at the time, but even then, scraps off a big club. The fact that they are run the way they are run (like a big club, spending big, sacking like no tomorrow) and have failed horribly, to me just emphasizes that they aren't a big club. Maybe small was the wrong word, big in England, middle in Europe.

Which club who finishes around mid table is big in Europe?

Re: Chris Hughton sacked by Newcastle.
Yeah I'm not saying they're small. Just sick of hearing how big they are.
I'd say they're big in the media in England. But they stopped being a "big" club a few years ago.

1. This is a fucking embarrassment of a decision.
2. Newcastle are nowhere near a big club.
And that's the bottom line, cos...
