Kind of stupid, even if he wasn't more experienced as a manager, he has been at Newcastle for years now, and he was producing great results for a newly promoted side.
I don't think a more experienced manager would do much better than Hughton. I enjoy watching Newcastle play under him, I hope he get's signed for a championship club and builds his career from there. (Or perhaps take over one of the lower Premier teams after their manager has been sacked in January or February)

Tbh, they're one of the biggest in England. Any club that fills a 50 odd thousand seater stadium each week (even in the Championship) is pretty big. Big stadium, big fanbase, were in Europe 7 years ago, have the ability to occassionally attract some big names.
