I think ours was the best bid, I haven't seen anything on them really, but English World Cup just made sence- a lot more than a Russian one does- for one our country isn't a bunch of racists who don't want black players at their clubs

Qatars small population means that people from all over the world will be able to come and take the seats (providing they have big enough stadiums) and wont just be a bunch of red necks that won world cup tickets in their big macs like the USA world cup.

Agree except the Australia part. I'm pissed off that we lost the bid for 2022 but some of the xenophobic and immature posts regarding the World Cup bid results are beyond pathetic.

I'm actually in favour of Qatar's bid, but there are reasons why it may not be ideal for the World Cup.


Qatar lacks passion for football, and has no pedigree in ANY sport. There may be mass investment in youth but with a population so small, it's team is never going to be good enough to compete in a World Cup in 2022.

People going on about how they have oil money and can do what they want, but just ask Dubai about the sustainability, Abu Dhabi is having to bail them out right now, and it wouldn't surprise me if they had to do the same for Qatar.

Also, people travelling there will be harassed none-stop by the poorer locals, which, as I've learnt myself, can potentially ruin holidays.

Oh, and the air conditioning is only going to be 3m high, so that'll be useless for anyone in the stands.
