We are in for Loic Remy. Arsenal have pulled out due to Remy refusing to take a pay cut.

Remy at £8million is a steal. I'd love him at Arsenal, shame we (reportedly) pulled out.

What qualities does he offer that makes him different from Sturridge?

Good point. I guess I was judging him by our standards since we have that piece of shit Giroud.Glen Miller wrote:What qualities does he offer that makes him different from Sturridge?

I wasn't trying to be facetious, I was just wondering if he is different in terms of the positions he occupies. I'm only asking because a few of the forwards we've been looking at are too similar to Beetroot.Keyser Söze wrote:Good point. Looks like we have sold Borini to Sunderland for 14m. Remy will be his replacement.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Ian Ayre seems exceptional at negotiating prices for our players (if he is the one responsible).
Those figures aren't 100%, but if you include Borini + the reported fee for Assaidi, I think that we've done well with our sales the past two seasons.
Yet Liverpool fans still mock him.

I know you weren't, it was still a good point. I guess he'll be a squad player, and an excellent one at that. It's a shame that your depth strikers are actually good enough to start for us.Glen Miller wrote:I wasn't trying to be facetious, I was just wondering if he is different in terms of the positions he occupies. Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
I would definitely take him anyway, especially with Borini now going & the price being reported (8m is nothing nowadays, sadly). If he's willing to miss a few games on the bench, even better. Sturridge can't last a season without any cup runs or European football without suffering injuries or burnout, so he's going to be stretched to the limit this season. He has a decent conversion rate and his goal return for Newcastle was excellent, plus his pace is superb.Keyser Söze wrote:I know you weren't, it was still a good point. It certainly beats spending 24m on Bony to either occupy Sturridge's space or ride the bench. I hope that we do sign one more forward a bit more versatile like Suarez, but I can't think of anyone besides Vela or Sanchez, who rejected us 100% because of our location.

84% want Glen Johnson replaced. Poll is towards the bottom of the page.

Have to say I agree. Just hope we sort out the back four before the start of the season.

Borini gone for a big price, now a goal scorer definitely needed. A good day. Ayre dagawd.

Still alive. Looks like our search for Gerrard's replacement on penalty duty will continue.Eternal Witcher wrote:Borini gone for a big price, now a goal scorer definitely needed. A good day. Ayre dagawd.

Sub on Lambert for penalties. Vangaalesque mind victories.
I'd like to hope that the 20 million copped from Borini and Assaidi makes a marquee signing more of a possibility. Isco would be nice. They wouldn't need him after James.

We've got a huge amount to spend. I almost hope we don't spend all of our reported budget, we'll just end up with too many players.Eternal Witcher wrote:Sub on Lambert for penalties. Vangaalesque mind victories.

True, one big signing for the goal force and I'd be happy. Then there should be enough for the defence, especially if we come back to Bertrand. Trusting Ayre to get things done.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
WHY THE FUCK ARE WE GETTING RID OF BORINI
WHY THE FUCK
HE'S OUR SECOND BEST STRIKER
WHAT IS THIS STUPID FUCKING SHIT!!!
Next season we'll probably buy some useless scrub like Dwight Gayle to add depth to our strike force

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
£14 million for Borini? Ayre deserves a medal if that actually happens. That's £2 million more than what Sturridge cost us.
Not keen on us signing Remy, personally, but selling Borini for £14 million and bringing Remy in for £8 million seems like pretty good business, considering it's an upgrade.
I had a dream we announced the double signing of Reus and Pogba. TFW I woke up. Das not it mane.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
I do get the feeling we are going to make one "wow" signing, though. There's too much noise about it at the moment for it to just end up not happening. Di Maria seems to be the latest name being mooted.
Apparently there's an Andy Heaton tweet where he reveals he's been told by Tony Evans that we're in for a signing that is "OMFG". But Tony Evans has been sworn to secrecy and couldn't reveal any more than that. It would make sense for LFC to make sure this marquee signing is kept under wraps.
Could all just be bullshit, though. We better at least get Moreno.

Now just depends on whether you'll agree wages with Remy. I've read he won't take a pay-cut on his £90K a week and you're only willing to offer £50-60K.

If you've publicly activated his release clause I think you're fairly confident of reaching an agreement with him.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
I can't see you signing Di Maria. I think with this Remy deal you're pretty stacked for players that can play along the front three. This window alone you'll have signed Remy, Lambert, Origi, Lallana and Markovic. Even if Origi does go back to Lille on a season long loan you'll still have 4 new players in attacking positions. Plus I think he wants to sign for PSG.Scott_LFC wrote:I do get the feeling we are going to make one "wow" signing, though. I think you should try and sign Isco.
