Am I right in saying that MLS clubs have to pay the full fee when they buy players, but they have to give a significant sum to the league when they sell?Scuba Steve wrote:Toronto admitted to receiving an offer for Defoe. Admitted to being in discussions with the team that made the offer, but that nothing has been decided from their end yet.
EDIT.
Turns out the offer is worth $11m. Yikes.

Re: Summer Transfers 2014
The league pays the transfer fees in certain situations though. And by league, I mean all the owners. So the "league" helped with the transfer fees for Bradley, Defoe, and Dempsey (the first $375k - I think that's the number - is paid by the collective league as well. The difference is paid by the owner of the team who has the player). Normally, if a player is sold, the team that sells the player gets 2/3 of the transfer fee, with the league collecting the other 1/3 to be distributed somehow amongst the other teams (can't remember specifically how).
If it's a home grown player, the team keeps 75% of the fee.
However, I'm not sure how it will work with Jermain, where the owners helped pay. I can imagine they won't see the normal 2/3 back.

Chicharito to Real Madrid confirmed. Makes sense. From one bench to another.

There's some serious lack of pace in the United squad, should Little Pea and Welbeck leave.

One player.
Rooney, RVP, Falcao, Mata, etc are slow.
Looking at the best teams in Europe nowadays, the common denominator is electric pace.
Bayern - Ribery, Robben
Barca - Messi, Sanchez, Pedro, Neymar, etc
Real - Bale, Ronaldo, etc
They're just pretty quick all-round. United will struggle against the pacey PL sides, I believe.

Re: Summer Transfers 2014
Sure.
Pace is very important these days. You know it.
Name me one top side that only has 1 starting quick attacking player.

Ribery and Robben. Gotze is no slouch, either. Shaqiri on the bench. Thiago is pretty quick.

Re: Summer Transfers 2014
Lewandowski
Götze -------- Müller ------- Robben
Alaba - Alonso - Lahm
Badstuber - Benatia - Boateng
Neuer
Apparently that's one of Bayern's best options at the moment, not exactly filled with lightning quick pace.

Re: Summer Transfers 2014
Difference is they actually do possess quick players that are also quality, like Ribery and Shaqiri.
Compare that to United, who only have Di Maria as a good player with pace. Januzaj is meh, Valencia is fucking shit.
All the other top sides in the League have players who are good and have pace.

Quicker than the United front line.
Tempo of the PL is higher too.

Telegraph Football @TeleFootball 16m
Radamel Falcao to earn £346,000 per week as Manchester United pay £24m for season-long loan http://fw.to/Wtbxi7P
Danny Welbeck is at #afc's training ground. He would prefer joining #afc over #thfc & is trying to force through a deal. Wenger's move now.
PLEASE.

Re: Summer Transfers 2014
£6 million loan fee for Welbeck.
So essentially, Arsenal are paying for Falcao to go to United
Wenger deserves to be sacked for that, lmao.
Can't decide which scenario I would prefer:
Welbeck to do well, bang the goals in and thus Arsenal finish 4th ahead of United.
Or
Welbeck to be atrocious, Falcao bangs the goals in and thus United finish ahead of Arsenal.

Re: Summer Transfers 2014
Arsenal are hardly paying for Falcao's loan considering the wages united are paying
