Hate to see great players carry on at too high a level, he's only going to get embarrassed if he carries on in the Premier League.  He should either retire or go to a retirement home league in North America or the Middle East.

QPR are basically the retirement home of the Premier League.

I almost got away with it too. I was paid by The Sun to go across the internet and slander the name Liverpool FC.

I don't think he'll be played at striker that much, he'll be 3rd choice striker (if Suarez leaves)

He'll probably spend more time on the wing, if he consistently played striker he'd make double figures.

You all doubt Borini, I was right about Henderson. I was kinda right with Carroll, he started to come good and then we sold him. I will be right about Borini, Chip can pick a player out.

Or, as is evident, the BPL is just as much of a retirement league as MLS.

And before you dumbasses respond with nothing to back up your claims -- here are the average ages of MLS teams at the start of this season and the average ages of BPL teams at the start of the 2013/2014. Really no differences.

And I will say, some of those minimum ages of the players can be very misleading. For example, D.C. United striker Michael Seaton was 17 at the time of the beginning of the season, when the list was produced, but he is 18 now. So, those numbers are decimal points higher now that the list is a couple of months old.

It's got nothing to do with average age though. It's got to do with players like Villa and Kaka moving to the MLS at the tail end of their careers.

Because they wanted to continue playing at a high level.

What does what he was making in Russia have to do with his future earnings? Could have been that he wasn't going to get the same amount if he had stayed.

Eto'o has already said he's had better offers from the Middle East but wants to play in the CL.

The difference is that our crap teams rely on these old players to try and stay up, and occasionally our top teams use them as backup. MLS teams use them to win titles.  I've seen MLS Cup Finals where players like David Beckham (mid-late 30s) and Robbie Keane (historically bad flop with Liverpool)  play key roles.

Because it was a one year deal with no transfer fee. You actually think Chelsea would have paid him £7million a year for a 3-4 year contract?

Robbie Keane gets $4.5 million on a multiyear contract. He'd never get that in the BPL.

Look at the top 8 earners in the MLS

    1. Michael Bradley, Toronto FC: $6 million base, $6.5 million guaranteed compensation

    2. Jermain Defoe, Toronto FC: $6 million, $6.18 million

    3. Clint Dempsey, Seattle Sounders: $4.91 million, $6.69 million

    4. Robbie Keane, Los Angeles Galaxy: $4.5 million, $4.5 million

    5. Landon Donovan, Los Angeles Galaxy: $4.25 million, $4.58 million

    6. Thierry Henry, New York Red Bulls: $3.75 million, $4.35 million

    7. Tim Cahill, New York Red Bulls: $3.5 million, $3.63 million

    8. Obafemi Martins, Seattle Sounders: $1.62 million, $1.75 million

All former BPL has-beens or flops that would never even dream of getting paid that much in the PL.

What's your claim? That people went to get paid more in one league, herego, that makes it a retirement league?

Woe is Michael Bradley. Went to retire at 26, yet still managed to make it to the World Cup this year.

Wow, you're taking it as literally a "retirement league" as in only for old age players. Wow. Nice going on being deliberately obtuse.

You're right. I assumed when people said retirement league, they meant retirement league. Otherwise they wouldn't have called it a retirement league. I can see where the confusion is.

Hold on, you seriously thought it meant that all the players were old? You fucking idiot. It means that the best players only go there when they are approaching the age where they have to leave top level football. They can still have young players surrounding them, the same way as retirement homes have staff under 60.
