£20 million? Ffs. That's stupid money. As was £25 million for Lallana. Christ.
Lallana £25 million
Lovren £20 million
Can £10 million
Lambert £10 million
That's £55 million already.

I would love to get a really decent body, but it's been twice now that I've started, and lost interest within a month. (lifting)

Shame to see Liverpool spending all this money on such wonderful players. I was hoping they'd do a Bale and sounk it all on garbage, or do a United and save their money for the stadium, but this is reminiscent of when Mourinho sold Ibrahimovic but brought in Lucio, Milito, Eto'o and Sneijder and took them to the Treble.

Yes. Why? Well, it's been about 4 months of running now, but my face has been the same for the last 2 months.
I also stopped drinking Coke and switched to water.

Rodgers has worked wonders with a few underperforming players, we are better off going for these absolutely bargain-priced players so we can get bang for our buck.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Shame to see Liverpool spending all this money on such wonderful players. What's the weight difference (roughly) between those two pictures?

First pic I was 12st6-ish. Now I vary between 11st to 11st5 depending on time of day/what I've eaten.

Ah, ok. You just look like you'd weight a lot more in that 1st picture. I guess you're just one of those people where it all goes to their faces.

A lot does tend to go to my face, it's really, really annoying. But I'm wondering if it's purely down to the exercise, or if the fact that I've cut out Coke is what's caused my face not to look bloated.
Probably a bit of both.

Do you genuinely believe Owen is your greatest ever player?

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
It's between him and Glen Johnson, too tough to call, but Owen played in a more prominent position (not that Glen couldn't have played anywhere across the park) and received more accolades because he is completely English.SBSP wrote:Do you genuinely believe Owen is your greatest ever player?

Any argument that he isn't is based on opinion rather than fact.

Being the greatest player can't be based on fact.

Here is a fact, Michael Owen won the Ballon d'Or. When another Liverpool player does that he can be involved in the conversation.

So Michael Owen was better than Henry and Shearer as well, I presume? What about Rooney and van Persie?

Have any of those other players won the Ballon d'Or?

But that's respective of players you're competing with. For example; it's easier to win the Ballon 'Or when you're up against Raul and Kahn than it is to win one when you're up against Messi and Ronaldo.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Spanish radio station Cadena Ser report in the early hours of Friday morning (European time) that Liverpool and Barcelona have agreed a fee of 90 million euros for the transfer of the Uruguayan striker.
This is according to José Ramón de la Morena and comes after Barcelona and Liverpool met in London to discuss what is likely to be one of the summer’s biggest transfers.
Cadena Ser add that new Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has given his approval to bringing in Suarez despite the fact he is banned for four months after biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.
On Thursday, FIFA confirmed that Suarez would be able to move clubs and can train with his team mates during the ban.
This is far from the only report of a done deal, but may well be the most credible so far.

When you're comparing greatest players you have to compare them against players of their era. Otherwise people like Pele and Maradona wouldn't be in the conversation for being GOAT, because even today's shit players would be far better than them in absolute terms thanks to the decades of advancements in training, nutrition, tactics and so on. I don't know if you've ever watched any matches from that era but the quality is far far inferior. If you don't compare them in terms of how good they were compared to their era saying who the team's greatest player of all time was is simply a case of talking about their greatest player in the last 5 years.
Owen is the only Liverpool player to be voted as the best in the world or Europe by a recognised award, that makes him the greatest. In absolute terms, maybe players with a 13 year technological advantage are better than him, but you'd expect that.

What era? Pele and Maradona's eras or 2001 when Owen beat Raul and Kahn to the Ballon d'Or?
I get what you're saying and that's why I didn't bring up the great players of 70's, 80's and 90's. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to compare the quality of competition for the Ballon d'Or in 2001 to 2008.

Maradona's era is much stronger than Pele's, Owen's is much stronger than Maradona's, today's is much stronger than Owen's. In absolute terms the later in time you play the more advantages you have, that's why you can only really compare players based on how good they were compared to the players around them.
Let's not forget, Owen wasn't going up against chumps to win that award. At the time Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo, Beckham, Del Piero, Maldini, all these players were active and he beat all of them to the award.

Suarez is off, Sanchez apparently the only thing now slowing down the deal. We met with his representatives yesterday. Still think he's off to Arsenal though

Looks like Suarez could be going on the cheap. £60m if you believe some reports
