Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Another positive spin-off for Liverpool is that the retention of
Suárez will help quell growing disquiet on Merseyside over the club’s
lack of activity in the transfer market so far this summer. Rodgers will
look to bolster a squad that has been weakened by the departures of a
number of senior players and is expected to be depleted still further by
the sale of others who have been made available for transfer.
Maxi
Rodríguez, Fabio Aurelio, Dirk Kuyt and Alberto Aquilani have left the
club since the end of last season and Craig Bellamy is on the verge of
rejoining Cardiff City on a free transfer. Andy Carroll and Daniel
Agger, meanwhile, will be sold if Liverpool receive their asking prices
for the pair from Newcastle United and Manchester City respectively.
Agger’s
circumstances, in particular, have been brought into sharper contrast
by Suárez’s new deal as the Denmark player is no closer to agreeing a
new contract with Liverpool, despite having entered the final two years
of his present agreement, a situation that suggests his future lies away
from Anfield.
Liverpool are hoping that City will not only
agree to their demand for a fee of more than £22 million for Agger but
that the Barclays Premier League champions will allow them to take Adam
Johnson on loan next season with the wide midfield player’s wages being
met by the Merseyside club as part of the proposed deal.
Should
that transaction take place, then Liverpool would be unlikely to follow
up their recent inquiry for Theo Walcott, the Arsenal winger. They
remain hopeful of signing Joe Allen, the Swansea City midfield player,
before the start of the season, though, and have also joined the race to
sign Nuri Sahin on loan from Real Madrid.
Jack Butland is
another potential target although Liverpool would not be willing to
become embroiled in an auction for the highly rated Birmingham City
goalkeeper.

Most of your fans acknowledge that you aren't competitive and that your players aren't good enough though. What's wrong with him saying what is quite clearly true?
Everyone knows that you can criticise yourself but you don't let others criticise you. Just look at the Manchester United fans' reaction after United were beaten in the CL final as one example. You'd think they were a Championship team.
It's called manners and if that quote's true, it shows a lack of them by Sahin.

That's a bit hypocritical. Other fans who do that are equally hypocritical.
It's just honesty. At least he eliminates any false hope you might have of signing him. I'd rather a player we were interested in just said that than leading us on when he has no intention of signing for us. And what he said isn't even that bad. That kind of criticism could even be helpful if your owners and manager decide to address it.

Tbh, we have made enquiries about Sahin.
Hopefully Jose having a good relationship with Brendan, can persuade Nuri to come.

It is hypocritical, but then everyone does it. It's like fat people telling everyone how fat they are. Woe betide anyone who dares to tell them though.

I wouldn't mind Adam Johnson. We should of got him a few years ago when he wasn't regularly starting for City. In fact he still isn't.

hahaha some 4 year old kid on the official site has scored 71 goals in 8 games.
That's not even fair.
The vid is pretty funny. The goalkeeping is atrocious.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Apparently Rodgers has said, when asked about Agger, that "every player has his price". I'm expecting him to leave now, I'm all for managers being honest, but that kind of comment is just going to attract more bidders for him and potentially other top players. We all know that every player has his price, but there's no need to say it in my opinion. It's not the kind of thing you'd hear Fergie say about one of United's best players when other clubs had already made bids.
