Would you have him in the England squad Trent? England's attack has been stale for so long and surely a young, fresh player like Hooper would add more than the likes of Defoe.

No one has seen him play in a top league that's for sure. I do think he would do pretty well though. Depends on the team.

I think he'd slot in nicely next to Rickie Lambert.

Udinese, Rennes, Braga, Rangers, Utrecht. He's scored against every good team he's played apart from Atletico Madrid and he's such a big game player.

Yes, I would love to see him in the England squad. When we had Hooper and Hayes up front they had a great partnership so Hooper would just need a player like Rooney up front with him. Rooney could feed Hooper and England would then have an excellent strikeforce.

Sharp and Hooper up front. A Scunthorpe made strikeforce.

What utter, utter bollocks. Goodwillie has always been a mediocrity (29 goals in 117 games for Dundee United) and you have never seen Hooper play. Fuck off.

How can people moan about Defoe? Been a bit part player yet scored 11 goals. Had he played every game, like most of the other top English strikers he would have lots more goals. He's been decent for England and he always has the potential to score goals from in the box or 30 yards out.

If he was in the team I wouldn't mind at all. Think a few others would worry me more.

We don't need players who can just score a few tap-ins against meaningless opposition.

Can Hooper play a lone striker role well? I'd imagine England would be looking for that.

I wouldn't have him in for the Euros, maybe after, like some others have said.

Defoe, Hooper has been very good this season.. nothing special but enough to command a spot in the squad over most England strikers.

Tbh what you said about Defoe can be applied to Hooper too. He hasn't scored many goals against respectable opposition and quite a few of his goals are tap-ins or defensive/goalkeeping errors. He could get a chance after the Euro's in a friendly maybe. If he doesn't then nobody will care anyway.

Oh yes, it's clear I'm talking about preceding seasons and not this one. He's declined massively since a few years back.
