    Gary Hooper Empty Gary Hooper

Post by Guest Tue May 15, 2012 12:08 am

Not been a bad couple of days

Scored 5 yesterday, got the golden boot and man of the match award and lifted the league trophy. Just been voted Scunny's greatest player of all time, which is nice I suppose

Wasn't he only there for like 2 years? Laughing sums up Scunthorpe if he did get voted their greatest player ever

    Wth?

    Kevin Keegan?...

There's a few other great players (found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scunthorpe_United_F.C. ) who have played for Scunthorpe. Not necessarily in recent times, but if it's of all time then it shouldn't matter.

Hooper is good, from what I have seen of Scunthorpe in recent times he has been their best player (Billy Sharp is superb but not as good)...but he isn't at the same level as some of Scunthorpe's greats from the past.

According to Scunthorpe fans, Hooper is their greatest, ahead of Keegan.

Flawed poll. Only 700 people voted, going to assume many were either too young or know about/watch Keegan. More likely to vote someone who you've actually seen play.

Like I said, Hooper is good but he's not their best of all time and that's easy to see.

Shame we put him in the shop window for clubs, Turner was too tight to fly to meet him on his holiday to sign him. We got him from Southend reserves and he turned out to be amazing, he said on an article he'd stay if we got promoted Laughing

Basically Turner is a tight cunt and wouldn't pay out. Hooper benefited greatly though as we just would've held up his progression.

    So happy for Gary Smile

Why should he get called up for England?
    Rooney
    Sturridge
    Welbeck
    Defoe
    Bent
Even Caroll who's been pretty good recently
Are all ahead of him at the moment. Maybe in the future though. Even Grant Holt hasn't been called up yet.

You said this yesterday on Skype and had to be corrected, then you admitted you were trolling and he does deserve a call up.

Might as well test him out before the Euros, see if he's good enough to be backup or something...

His call up should be after the euro's. You guys are already getting a new manager, the last thing you need is new players. Priority number one should realistically be to avoid underachieving like always

Hooper was better than Jelavic when they both played in the SPL in my opinion.

If England want to progress, they have to stop giving chances to players who are nowhere near the top.

So they need to replace Welbeck, Crouch and Carroll with Hooper?

I'd rather Hooper than most of those shit players that are repetitively put into the squad like Defoe and Bent, at least Hooper could somewhat be a surprise package.

Never seen him play therefore cannot judge. The quality of England's strikers is pretty poor though so I suppose there's no harm in experimenting.

    Top English strikers:

    Rooney - 27
    Holt - 15
    Graham - 12
    Defoe - 11
    Sturridge - 11
    Crouch - 10
    Bent - 9
    Welbeck - 9

    Inferior league mentions:

    Lambert - 27
    Hooper - 24

You can only realistically take 4 or maybe 5.
