In tonight game against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, I am a great admirer of Xabi Alonso, and he is intelligent tactically on and off the ball, and his decision making is outstanding and he is not the quickest player on the pitch"

He said something after the not the quickest player on the pitch, but I can not understand it. His accent is hard to follow.

That fourth official guy paraphrased what he said.

Kagawa's probably a bit improbable, but if we did somehow manage to get him, that looks a decent team.

I think Glen is going to leave this summer as well. Sad Kelly is a decent replacement, though. And hopefully we get a new winger for Downing, but he has actually looked okay recently, in fairness.

Gerrard has played in that role all season. Just choosing his right moments to switch to a position behind the striker or on the wing. When he's not attacking he pretty much sits right infront of the defence but with Lucas back that won't be the case. Quite effective if you ask me.

Gerrard has been anything but effective in that role, he just isn't a central midfielder, Scholes absolutely destroyed him in that game a few months ago when they both played in the middle. Laughing

He's best in behind a striker like in the last game.

I would still like to see Suarez in the hole behind a pure finisher.

Gerrard's place is on the bench. The only thing that held my tongue in the previous post is that I cannot bear to see that rodent Jordan Henderson flapping his scrawny little arms as he mindlessly hoofs the ball to the corner, and whenever one of those sixty passes comes off, other Liverpool fans think that they have seen the Messiah.

Hard to believe that it wasn't done on purpose.

Alan should make the match thread anyway and we Liverpool fans can discuss the match in there.

That was the worst passing i have ever seen from a professional team. We would have been beaten by a good half of the MLS teams.

Coates looks more comfortable with the ball in their box than Carroll does. Spearing was shit and I didn't even get to see the 1st half. Kelly was poor in the 2nd half, and I like Kelly.

Kuyt really does have some awful touch. he cannot control the ball and move it. Of all the players we had today the player the best at trapping and moving the ball was Sterling and he's 10 years old.

Maxi might as well not have been out there, he was a ghost.

If our owners want to get into the top 4 there is MASSIVE investment needed. Not only first team players but depth.

P.S. Good showing by Doni on those two tries by Dempsey. Dembele and Dempsey were the best players on the pitch tonight.

P.P.S. Mac: that's a good looking jersey but I hope our homes have collars

I wouldn't say Maxi was a ghost, did well in the 1st half and nearly scored in the 2nd after a great run. He was one of the few (along with Carroll, Coates, Doni and Sterling) players that looked bothered today.

I remember when this place was a 'fortress'

I agree. Terrible passing and almost none of the players looked bothered like you mentioned.

Only noteworthy players were Doni, Sterling and Carroll to some extent. Maxi was decent at times but our midfield was terrible we couldn't pass if our lives depended on it.

Kuyt needs to go. I appreciate his contribution to Liverpool but his touch is awful and he's past it.

Sterling looks like a smart player, his deliveries where decent and he wasn't one dimensional.

I must admit I put him down as an overrated Liverpool youngster but he looks like he might develop into something of a star at Anfield.
