Donnelly, a 19-year-old striker playing for Belfast-based Cliftonville, is expected to move to the Premier League next month and was thought to be heading to Swansea in a £100,000 deal.
But Cliftonville’s chairman, Gerard Lawlor, received a direct approach from Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish over the weekend.
“It’s not every day you get Kenny Dalglish ringing you,” said Lawlor. “He made it clear that Liverpool want to sign him and that they would be back in touch.”
Everton manager David Moyes is also interested in the forward, hoping to repeat the success of the last Irish player he plucked from relative obscurity, Seamus Coleman.
Moyes signed Coleman for just £60,000 from Shamrock Rovers two years ago, and hopes the speed with which he is prepared to give youngsters a chance — and an obvious vacancy in his strike force given his shortage of numbers – will work to his advantage

De Jong, a young ST (Dutch, I think) who is having a solid season in the Eredivisie.Mustangt125 wrote:Who?

Sissoko is a tank, I believe. Hopefully he can play football as well.

Henderson provides more of an engine than Shelvey and would cover more ground. Working together with Adam rather than bombing forward like Shelvey would do. You could argue that Shlelvey could just sit back and release balls from deep but that's just a waste of his talent when he has more to offer.
I don't agree with this, I would like to see him bombing forward from deep.
He could put in a decent shift, we have a solid back-line anyway and Adam seems to win a lot of balls in midfield.
He is twice the player Henderson is!
I still think we're missing that Aquilani type player behind Suarez.

Are you talking about the young Sissoko? If so I watched him the other day and he was great to watch.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
The manager has given me a lot of confidence with the faith he has shown in me. I want to stay at Liverpool now and help this club achieve some success this season. I don't want to go back out on loan and I want to fight for my place.

If Shelvey does well and Gerrard stays fit then I doubt we will sign a midfielder in January. Think the main target will be a striker, which is understandable given the lack of goals upfront.

I always love buying a new striker, always get really hopeful, apart from when we signed Carroll because it was more shock at the price
