Well we're still going backwards as a club, why should the recent good form overshadow that? Laughing

We're still slowly declining. A few years ago 4th was the absolute minimum for us. Now its the highest we can aim for Cry

But you doubted our chances, previous seasons a top 4 was guaranteed. You cannot deny we're going in the wrong direction.

I don't think we're declining, I think we're stagnating. People saying that only now has the ambition become a top four position are talking out of their arse. Does no one remember the 2008/09 season when Villa were fourth for the majority of the season? Or what about Lasagna-gate? We've certainly been fluctuating but to say that we're on a gradual decline is a load of bollocks. This will be a season of transition but I still think we'll finish fourth. Hopefully, next year if we manage to keep the main pillars of the team, we can mount a title challenge.

Oh obviously.. but Wenger has done alright imo considering Fab and Nasri have left, needs to dig a bit deeper in January though.

That bullshit is said every season, face it, unless Wenger suddenly changes as a person overnight we will never catch the leaders.

That's why I said we're stagnating and not moving on and up. Maybe a managerial change could be useful although, I think that our fuck ups last year had nothing to do with the manager and more with the fragility of the players.

He's done ok considering the squad we have, as I just said though, he's not the sort of manager to get us back on top though.

I'd say the quality of the team is getting worse every year, we may finish fourth but the lack of quality is noticeable.

I just can't see how Arsene can get us back as challengers if he sticks with the same mentality.

Because they were in an almost identical situation in 2004/05. Highest points total in the league and cheated out of the semi-finals of the Champions League. They could only improve from that point with their abundance in cash. Look how that turned out...

Because our ignorant supporters and board will always allow him complete autonomy when it comes to the team. Some many criticize him but once we win some games and place in the top four the negative comments die down a lot. The quality of our team is complete shit bar some good individual talent here and there, Van Persie, Wilshere, Gervinho, Sagna.

They can be caught, they aren't invincible. We should be making steps forward but instead we are in a position of key players leaving and our manager seems content with buying inadequate replacements.

The team was better last year than it has been since the trophyless run began (exception being 07/08 where we had a phenomenal team), so that's not true by any means. His mentality is alright, it really is just down to the players to show their desire now. You don't contest for four different trophies for significant phases without being good enough. The players were fragile and that was our downfall. Not much Wenger can do about that unless he hires a psychologist.
