Dean you've got Cadbury all wrong, he's questioning Kenny yes but he's still in favor of him.

I'm the same - love Kenny & want him to continue but as others have been saying in the past few pages, there hasn't actually been many decent performances - definitely not enough of this 'pass & move' style Kenny is trying to implement..

Not a huge fan of the signings either (Adam, Henderson, Carroll) - they don't exactly complement this style.

I've seen almost none of this pass and move style this season - pisses me off TBH Mad

The contact was bad yes but it was in no way intentional - he quite clearly had eyes on the ball the whole time.

If they keep playing like they did against Tottenham, and dont turn up for games like they did yesterday i think there would be more than me questioning Liverpool. Yesterday was just not good enough, and if they keep playing like that i would expect all the players and management to question themselves.

I'd like to see what Carroll would be like with Gerrard behind him? Anyone else agree? Would stop him coming deep for the ball all the time. Laughing

Yeah but that's just trying to make Carroll better, still without Carroll in the team you'd be better.

You're probably right, but when we spend 35m on a Striker I can't see us not trying to accommodate him now. Although it does seem that way. We play a system that doesn't suit him.

I think the way we are setting up simply doesn't suit Carroll's game he needs us to play higher up the pitch hem teams in and get bodies around him. To do that we need to play a higher defensive line. We can either defend deep and protect Carra's diminishing pace or we can play high and play to Andy's strengths.

It's the classic tale of the short blanket.

I just don't see how Kenny can accommodate a slow centre forward and a slow centre back in the same line up against decent opposition away from home. When we defend deep Carroll is isolated and easy to defend against and when we push up when trying to chase games Carra is an accident waiting to happen as Stoke showed.

How long is it since we overturned a deficit and won a game. The problem is when you are chasing a game you have to gamble and leave your centre backs one on one at the back and push players forward. It is reminiscent of Houllier's last few years when with a slow pairing of Henchoz and Hypiia we went years without overturning a deficit.

We changed that ironically by switching an at the time quicker Carra from full back to centre back and by pushing right up and playing a much higher defensive line. If we stretch the blanket to try and accommodate both Carra and Carroll we end up like today stretched and passed around and passed through at will.

It's decision time we either ditch Carroll play to Carra strengths and become a Houllier style counter attacking or we do the reverse ditch Carra and use Carroll as a focal point and get players around him.

I agree with this guy. shifty

Fucking hell, the negativity in this thread after the first properly bad performance of the season is pathetic.

If the referee had sent Richardson off when he was the last man and brought down Suarez, we probably would have beaten Sunderland comfortably.

We managed to beat Arsenal, not the greatest performance, but it was a well fought win.

Saw off Exeter in the cup with ease, nothing flashy, but it didn't have to be, most important thing was getting the job done.

Played brilliantly against Bolton, created chances, moved the ball well, defended solidly most of the time.

Dominated Stoke, on another day Henderson would have taken his chance(s), so would Suarez (trying to avoid the referee's performance).

Yesterday we didn't play well, and we made it worse for ourselves with the red cards, but that's the first time this season that we will have to admit that we didn't deserve anything from the game.

Well he does need a chance, like a run of games, but this could effect you in a bad way so it's a risk, and a choice Kenny has to make.

Give him that chance, risk it hurting you as a side then cashing in on Carroll to a team that are willing to sign him, because lets face it there's a lot more money able to be spent right now with you, you'd then go out and buy a top striker, one that is mobile and actually able to play football, and move on having wasted some money on Carroll but I don't think money is a big issue for you right now.

Too early to totally give up on him though, so I'm sure he'll get a long run of games and could possibly settle, and your team might get used to playing with him, who knows.
