Re: Republican Nominees
Here's a suggestion, why not have Paul, a man in his 70s, appoint a highly competent politician as his Vice President, regardless of his name?

Find a guy named Paul Ron !
Or Colbert
Ron Paul is the only proper candidate, and along with Romney probably the only one that has a slight chance at beating Obama in the end.
I was being serious though.
Rand Paul is basically a younger version of Ron Paul. It would also be interesting to have a father-son presidency.

I don't agree. I think Paul will put up a fight to the end. I think the biggest loser tonight is Romney. This loss could hurt him big and it will just be a repeat of 2008. Also, let's not forget that Gingrich is missing from the Virginia ballot.

Re: Republican Nominees
Oh, I don't doubt that Paul will go 'till the end. He'll do his best to spread his message, and continue to raise funds. I just don't think he has a chance to win the nomination with the current mindset of the Republican Party.
As I already mentioned, Florida is a closed primary, and that could end up hurting Paul even more. A lot of the younger, independent voters that aren't registered won't have a chance to vote for him.

Of course, I don't think it would be a good idea for him to use his son as the VP candidate. It stinks of corruption, and would be exposed by Barack Obama's campaign.ahlycotc wrote:ResurrectionRooney wrote:Here's a suggestion, why not have Paul, a man in his 70s, appoint a highly competent politician as his Vice President, regardless of his name?

The VP should carry the message and policies of the President and there is no better person than Rand Paul that I know of. It doesn't stink of corruption. It's not the same thing as a dictator placing his son as the VP.

What has it come to when Newt flipping Gingrich can win a state? Shows how racist South Carolina has to be.

It's not the same thing, but it's pretty fucking similar. Holding a system for 4-8 years in which if the head of the executive dies, his son takes over, that sounds a lot like North Korea, or the United Kingdom in the 1700s.

It's not similar. In a dictatorship or monarchy, the people have no say in choosing a VP because the VP is chosen by the President after he is already elected. In the USA, the Presidential candidate must choose a VP before general elections, the people still have a say.

Granted, there are some differences, but you must accept it wouldn't look very good. Has any candidate ever tried that sort of nepotism? Were they successful?

I really don't think it looks bad. It may have if his son wasn't really a politician. But Rand won elections on his own and is gaining a reputation. No President has chosen a VP that is related, but the Bushs were only separated by Clinton.

No, that would be so amazing though. He might as well not be running because he isn't on any of the ballots and some states don't allow write-ins. He encouraged his supporters to vote for Herman Cain in South Carolina as a joke and Cain received about 1% of the votes.
Tonight's debate is in Florida, the next primary.

Yeah, Ron Paul is better, but even Rand Paul is a saint compared to the other candidates.
