Yes, if Van Persie had scored that opportunity, they'd be very similar. The fact he missed, no one really bats an eyelid. The same would have happened if he ball got cleared and didn't hit Ramsey and bounce into the net. No one would have bat an eyelid.

There was nothing wrong with Arshavin's challenge, that's why no one batted an eye lid. If the ball had got cleared, it would have been ok, because the immediate danger would have been gone.

That means nothing, I'm sure I've seen an incident where a player had his leg broken and an opposition player tried lifting him off the ground in an aggressive manner because he thought he had dived. I can't entirely remember though.
