what is taking up all the space on my computer???

i have that free on my computer, making it very very slow,i dont have much music on my computer, probably about 1-2 gb worth, no movies, i have my graphics on there but they surely cant take up much, i deleted all the programmes i dont use, and uninstalled them, yet still something is clogging up my laptop!


please can someone help?

Graphics take up a fuck load mate, I had to delete a load of pics recently.

Not sure but honestly, a external hard drive wouldn't be a bad choice. It's £50 for a Terrabyte nowadays.

Firefox saves things funny, in a way that consumes lots of space and generally makes your system act strange. I had a similar problem a while back.

Although that hard drive is pathetically small. Not that I'm compensating for anything, but my computer has near 600GB, as well as a 1TB external.

yes i do have monies to spend, i think ill probably buy one, just took a quick look at prices, seems the 320GB ones are like £40 and 1tb ones are £50, may aswell get the 1tb one


EDIT - looked closer and can get 320gb ones for £25

Pretty much everything tbh, Take the weight off your computer.

Your computer has probably backed itself up multiple times on the same drive.

Download advanced system care mate.

Download and run CCleaner.
If you haven't cleaned up your computer recently you can probably free up a lot of space by deleting unnecessary files (thumbnails, temp files, log files, caches etc.).

You should probably think about upgrading your hard drive though. It's 2011.

RR i downloaded that CCleaner thing and its doing its magic as we speak, hope it works enough for me to be able to watch iPlayer

i know, i have this shitty dell laptop, but cba to get a new one, i might think about a new one when i go off to Uni.

I had this on my old computer. Worked perfectly. I may re-download it again.

My computer has 220gb left from 1tb. There's no way I have 780gb worth of shit on my computer.

Do you have iTunes? When I was on my PC, I realized one day that iTunes made a copy of every music file I had. I saved about 20GB of space by removing the duplicates and unwanted files in my iTunes folder. Videos and pictures take up a lot of space too.

I would suggest moving your videos, pictures, and music to an external hardrive. You can get one with 1 TB of space for cheap now. Every year, the storage increases and the prices stay the same or decrease.

Yeah that's pretty small. My harddrive is 451 GB, I have 382 GB of that free and I don't have music or movies on it.

An external harddrive is a good idea, I bought a 1TB one just before last Christmas and store all of my music and movies/tv shows on there.
