Because Capello picked him. Hopefully he's jumped off the 'Scotty' Parker bandwagon.

Doubt it. Probably because Parker's one game from suspension.Dan wrote:Because Capello picked him. Hopefully he's jumped off the 'Scotty' Parker bandwagon.

Don't know why Carrick never gets a chance for England.

I thought Barry and Parker worked well the other day (from what I saw) Both covered each other when one decided to go forwards. Playing 2 holding midfielders isn't such a bad thing and both are pretty comfortable on the ball.

Lampard is usually poor for England, but i'm glad he's replaced that average media whore.
Does my head in when people call him 'Scotty' as well.

Considering he hasn't played in the league yet, he was never going to be in the squad for these.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Don't know why Carrick never gets a chance for England.

Ah well. He'll be found out anyway once 'Arry gets the job.

I'm guessing Cleverley isn't even on the bench again

Lampard is normally good for England, he's just played in a role that doesn't get the best out of him to accommodate other players.

No. If Gerrard doesn't fit in the middle then he takes up a position on the left (and is poor). Despite him being easier to replace than Lampard.
Cuts inside all the time, in the middle he doesn't cover Lampards natural game.

Rubbish. Not getting into it because it's been done to death.
England have never used Gerrard right. Ever. End of.

Ramsey will destroy this puny midfield.

Probably right, but when he is in the team he has a negative effect on Lampard.
And you cannot argue that Gerrard is easier to replace for England than Lampard.

Gerrard, and sometimes Rooney. When Gerrard is played on the wing or behind the striker, Lampard is used in a covering role - when Gerrard or Rooney is played as a second striker, they don't really track back, that's not their job, and when Gerrard is nominally played on the wing he drifts all over the place meaning Lampard has to cover Cole.

What do you mean? I thought Gerrard was the most complete player in World Football who can win games on his own from any position?

There was never a problem when Gerrard and Scholes played in the middle together, Then Lampard came along.

If you're thinking that, obviously you aren't as intelligent as you make yourself out to be.

Because he's never been used right. Had we used him in his best position, I'd pick him over Lampard every day of the week.
*Calm down Luke.

The facepalm might have something to do with the fact that the bench is fucking terrible.

For Liverpool yes, but not for England. There is no other English player like Lampard whereas Gerrard there are lesser players like Milner and Parker that fill in for Gerrard easily (with fairly similar games when Gerrard is played in the middle)
