There is Good, Very Good and World Class. Darren Bent falls into the Very Good category for me.

Re: Is Darren Bent world class?
Bent hasn't had the chance to prove that he's world class so for me it's unfair to say that he's not.
He's been prolific everywhere he goes, mostly at struggling clubs or when he's not been a regular striker.
Someone said he has to be at a top European club to be classed as World Class......that's just ridiculous as it's easier to play well when you have great players around you.....Bent at Man Utd or Chelsea would probably smash them in for fun.

Or you could look at it the other way, it's easier to stand out when you are surrounded by shit. The tactics at Charlton and Sunderland were/are set up to fed Bent and make him look better than he is. He doesn't have enough to his game to play for a top club, which is why none of them want him.

I didn't say he has to play at a top European club to be classes as World Class. I said it would help in making such a judgment. As someone said earlier, it's easy to stand out when you have not so great players around you. And playing against just English clubs isn't a great measurement either. His performances in a European competition would provide a better judgment.
For example, I view Aboutrieka as a world class player (well at least during his prime). Playing against other Egyptian clubs or African clubs isn't that great of a challenge, but he has proven himself against top players in top teams all over the world when the opportunity arises.

Maybe, but then again Utd's tactics last year were to feed Rooney......all teams try to feed their strikers....Bent might be relied on but that just puts more pressure on him to deliver.
Bent is fantastic at scoring goals, you don't have to have amazing dribbling skills, flair and be adept in several positions to be world class.

Re: Is Darren Bent world class?
Has he done it for England? No.
Has he done it in the Champions League? No.
Is he World Class then? No.
