Seeing as Paul Lambert is a bit of a shit manager and is leaving a guaranteed 15 goals a season striker out in the cold, Mr Bent obviously wants to leave Villa, and who can blame him. They're shit. But where will he go in January?

QPR was my first reaction, but I doubt he will want to be reunited with Harry Redknapp. I imagine his transfer fee & salary will be too high for many clubs in January, so he will probably stay.

Liverpool, I imagine is the first thing that springs to mind for most people.
I'm not sure most Liverpool fans would welcome him though. Or at least not the ones on here.

Liverpool were slacking goals and can't rely on Suarez, having Bent paired with Suarez would give Sterling an orgasm as Bent has the mind to get the goals Suarez won't.
I think it would be a perfect partnership.

I can't see Bent fitting into Brendan 'all talk' Rodgers' amazing philosophy that works so well though.

I'm sure they would, Bent has shown he's a good striker before and he'd probably be a good price compared to the £20m odd Villa payed.

There's better strikers abroad for half of the price, unless KKK still has input at the club then Liverpool won't be in for him.

If you visit the Liverpool thread, some of the fans don't seem too enthusiastic about having to move Luis "Third best player in the world" Suarez from his striker role if someone else comes in. If Bent came in, Suarez would definitely have to move elsewhere. (On the pitch)Zzonked wrote:Ché Guayaba wrote:Liverpool, I imagine is the first thing that springs to mind for most people.

Personally, I would sign Bent. If only to play that, "Hernandez, when you absolutely, positively need someone to score you a goal in the next 15 minutes" role.
Bent would probably want to start though.

Oh shut up.
I'd accept him, although as you said, I wouldn't want to risk moving Suarez but I can't see why Suarez can't just play on the left, but let him move around freely, which is kinda what he does anyway, surely he'd do much better if there was someone who can actually finish (Bent or whoever) in the box when he's out on the wing so he doesn't have to constantly try and beat like 3 defenders when cutting in

Signing Darren Bent would not be an improvement on Andrew Carroll, it would just have the same effect on Suarez. Both Darren and Andrew are awful and overpriced footballers.

Negredo, Huntelaar and Hooper (Not abroad but not in the premier league). All better, all probably wouldn't cost as much (Negredo wouldn't anyway, Huntelaar's contract ends soon). Don't know who else but he's not good enough for them now and if he did hypothetically sign they'd be looking for a better striker within a year.Zzonked wrote:Theo Filippo wrote:There's better strikers abroad for half of the price, unless KKK still has input at the club then Liverpool won't be in for him.

Only Huntelaar is better, Negredo is only as good as and Hooper is 6 overall points worse.
Some of you are acting like Darren Bent isn't even 82 overall.

Next you'll be trying to tell me Maicon isn't the best right back in the PL.

1. We can't afford him.
2. He's average. He is never going to replicate the form of 2009/10.
3. He won't fit in here, with the type of football Rodgers wants us to play.

Heard that Rodgers says he doesn't plan on making any big signings in the January window.
