You won't get him.
Pay his £30 million pound buy-out clause, then try and get him to join you. Highly unlikely.
Only way you're going to get that money is by selling a certain someone.

is there a buy out clause?
I dont think we'll get him but we have a chance, Im certain the moneys there, if we bid 35 mil for rossi in january and have spent anything since, plus 30 mil is nothing if we get 12 mil for palacios and find keane, hutton, crouch etc new homes

Looking forward to seeing you playing Hearts in the Europa League. Considering you will probably field a weakened team, it could be closer than most are expecting it to be.

I've heard Llorente is close to joining us, as well as Lassana Diarra, and after watching that game I think Llorente would do well for us. Hopefully Crouch and Defoe continue scoring next week and beyond whether he signs or not though.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
I was at the game today with Dad + Brother (both Spurs fans).
First 30 minutes was pretty dire for Spurs......Bilbao were beasting Spurs Barcelona style and Spurs just couldn't keep the ball.....well taken goal by them....though it was a poor defensive clearance.
Pienaar got injured....Modric came on and Spurs were A LOT better. In the second half Crouch, Defoe, Bale and Kaboul came on.....and now Spurs were the dominant team effectively pressurising Bilbao and forcing them into errors.
For me....Jenas and Pienaar are dead wood....both are poor and need to go. Huddlestone is ok but needs to lose weight and needs players like Modric, Van Der Vaart and Krancjar around him otherwise the midfield is too sluggish or lacks the technical ability to be in the game.
For me...Assou Ekotto was very good as always...I think he is really underrated..he has a lot of composure and dribbling ability, which helps Spurs move up the pitch and not hoof it up there. Bale was very good added the width to the Spurs team that it needed. Without a left winger the midfield becomes too congested and it is harder to keep possession.
Pavyluchenko looked laboured up front on his own....don't blame him 100% but his first touch was pretty bad and his awareness was too. Defoe and Crouch were a lot better and worked hard and looked lively.
Also Lennon looked in good shape....he was struggling for form last season at times....but he was doing well today, had a lot of pace and creativity and linked up well with Corluka......something which I think hasn't been too good a partnership generally....good to see it working today.
As for Bilbao......Llorente was OK. When it came to holding up play he was very good as expected.....he used his height and weight to his advantage....but he wasn't clumsy...kept the ball well, managed to create space for himself and could take on players. When it came to passing he was on and off.....could be better. Finishing wise he had a bad day....was skying and missing headers, didn't really get too many chances with his feet.
I was impressed with Munian...he was quick on his feet, moved the ball around well...he's only 18 and for me he is the bigger talent than Llorente. Llorente would be more useful to Spurs....he would be licking his lips at the prospect of joining Spurs because he would get a lot of crosses coming his way.
For me....it was a good showing by Spurs when the big boys were on. Despite having what is perceived to be a "strong squad" the midfield area is lacking quality when players like Modric, VdV and Bale (who are all fairly injure prone) aren't playing. Sandro is there too...almost forgot about him....but maybe selling off Jenas and Palacios would release the cash for someone better.
Striker wise...I think that Defoe and Crouch can do the business next year....DO NOT SELL CROUCH HARRY!. Pav is ok but if he could be sold for someone more reliable I would do it.

Ekotto is such a good player on his day and he seems to be producing the goods every week now. He is so good, especially for a guy who said himself that to him football is just a job. Well he does that job brilliantly. I do think we need a back-up though, unless Rose is to be used as one more often?
I've always said that Pav was the worst of the three, he never looks good during games. Yes he can score out of nothing, but it doesn't happen often enough. Crouch is useful when someone like Bale is putting in crosses of quality and if what happened in the 2nd half (Crouch heading back across goal for someone to shoot, and there was always someone there and not necessarily the same person which it was last year (VDV)) happens a lot during the season then we can get a lot of goals.
A big disappointment was Niko missing the pen, I called him missing before he shot, penalty taker should be Modric IMO and thought he would be the one to take it today. Speaking of Modric, the reception he got when coming on was amazing! Only a player looking for the money would move after that. The fans love him at the Lane and that was very evident by the reaction he got.
Midfield wise I would agree, but then we also have young players like Livermore and Parrett to come through. Palacios and Jenas should be sold, but only if we can bring players in (Lassana Diarra). Sandro is out for 3 months sadly, but we have Huddlestone, Modric, Niko (who played in the middle for a bit today), Jenas, VDV, Livermore, Palacios along with him so we have the cover. I think Pienaar may be able to play centrally as well. So we are well covered in that respect, but it's probably more depth than quality.
Speaking of youngsters, Walker seems to be very good and will link with Lennon well whenever they play together.
I do hope Friedel starts over Gomes next week though, I just don't feel confident with him in goal anymore.

Weird signing? More like quality signing, which will likely mean Palacios/Jenas/both is/are on the out.

I'm happy if the Lass deal is actually done, should be a good signing, just don't know how it's going to go with Hudders, still believe he is the best defensive midfielder in the squad.

I agree up until Thudd is the best defensive midfielder in the squad, I would say that would be Sandro IMO. But nonetheless it'll be interesting to see how he fits them in. Lass is a certain starter alongside Modric in the middle. I trust Harry though and Lass will only improve our squad.

Sandros good and he is finally adapting to the style of the league, but Hudders range of passing, and tackles is something else that anyone offers, reason for me he is the better defensive midfielder and I don't want to see him dropped

You know what? describing him like that tells me he is our best one at the moment, Sandro may surpass him though. To be a top quality side challenging for titles we need quality starting and on the bench, If we sign Lass we get that with either him or Thudd starting. I'm delighted to sign Lass if it happens, obviously not confirmed yet though. He maybe on the back of my shirt this year if comes.

Yeah of course Sandro has a chance of surpassing him reckon him and Hudders are in the same class of defensive midfielder then Lass is a different sort (if that makes sense), but adds more quality to out squad gives us more chances to challenge for silverware.
