Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
We don't need to buy anyone to cover Lennon, we have Kranjcar, Townsend, Giovani, Rose could play there, Bale can switch for a game or two. Hell Walker could probably cover there with Corluka behind at right back. We'll be fine.

Kranjcar isn't a winger though, he's a CAM so would just end up doing what Modric did against Sunderland and cut in alot, Townsend is a LM, Gio hasn't impressed me at all in the games he's played, Rose is a LM/LB so would be out of position and Bale can play there but isn't as effective as he is on the left.
We're not got another out and out RW that's good enough to take over from Lennon and/or push for his starting spot. No point moving players from the left over as they'd just be cutting in all the time losing the width. In pretty much all other areas we've got atleast 2 good players pushing for spots, except the RW. As evident by the fact we're all talking about Walker moving there

Yeah, he's played some EL games this season after coming back from injury. Was alright against Shamrock, but other then that I've not been overly impressed with him.
Personally, I'd put Townsend ahead of him in the pecking order as he's shown some real quality in the games he's played this season.

But why not give Gio a run out why Lennon is injured? be a great chance for him to finally stake a place. Niko is better there than VDV and Modric though. If we put a left sided player on the right it allows Walker to overlap and join the attack more often. Like BAE did on the left yesterday (even though his final ball was shocking every time he got into position). Why not give someone a chance? if it doesn't work on Thursday we still have that game in hand to go above Chelsea even if they beat us.

Don't mean to shoot everything down
I just go highly critical when everything is going well. Would hate for us to falter because we lack anyone with real quality to take over from Lennon.

(Just thought about this like this second so don't have a go if you hate! lol) How about this for Chelsea? 4-3-3: Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, Gallas, BAE; VDV, Parker (as the holding DM), Modric; Defoe, Adebayor, Bale

Defoe on the right? Dunno, could work. But then it'd be left to Walker to defend against Cole/Mata on his own as I doubt Defoe would track back a whole lot. But then I suppose you'd have Parker to come across and give support like his usual self.
Is definitely going to be interesting to see what Harry does.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
It was something I literally just came up with, so there are probably faults. Swap VDV for Defoe and put Sandro where VDV was listed. That could work. I don't know! This is why none of us are managers/coaches.Point wrote:Defoe on the right? Dunno, could work. While Townsend is being talked about, I wonder if we'll see him in the EPL at all this season? Same with Carroll.
Both impressed in the Europa League and look like good prospects for the future. Can't see them not making a few appearances at some point this season. (More so Townsend then Carroll)

cover for lennon would be nicebut like you said we at least have options in that area. I think we need to sign cover for BAE, we don't have a backup leftback if he gets injured at somepoint we'd have a few options

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
Well if them lot are options for RM then we've got cover for BAE in Rose, Bassong, Gallas and Bale.
Same as with Lennon in that none of them should be playing in that position as it's not their strongest or it's taking them from their best position.

Reading the gossip pages this morning:
Never heard if him. Maybe some lower league fan can fill me inTottenham are monitoring Shrewsbury's Connor Goldson, a 19-year-old who can play on the right side or in the centre of defence.
Was hoping Townsend would get some chances with us rather then go out on loan.Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is unlikely to let Jake Livermore go
out on loan during January. The 21-year-old midfielder is wanted by
several top-flight clubs but Redknapp wants to keep him as cover,
although winger Andros Townsend is expected to have another loan move.

I'll keep an eye out for him in League 2, though you could ask in the football league thread. I'm not surprised by the loans, with only the FA cup to rest players in these players need games and experience.

I can't get it show for some reason but you should all watch this, it's the reserves singing Stand by Me, Carroll falls into a bin at the end

That wasn't actually that bad, no 31 is a decent singer.

The video says it's Jansson but I don't think it is. Can't put my finger on who he is though.
I'm going through the guys other Spurs videos but the start of this one Massimo 'The Australian' Luongo is so angry

What is it with us and hamstrings? Lennon's out with one, Defoe I think has it and now VDV possibly!

Thinking about it, it says until new year, which is next week! He's only out for a couple of games, they're winnable really even without him I think.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
I couldn't believe it - Ade
Ade
Emmanuel Adebayor said he 'didn't have a clue' how John Terry denied him a last-minute winner against Chelsea on Thursday night.
A thrilling encounter saw chances at both ends in the last 10 minutes as another memorable Premier League clash finished 1-1 at White Hart Lane. Ramires missed a golden chance for the visitors in the 86th minute but there was still time for another match-winning opportunity.
With the clock reading 91 minutes, Gareth Bale dribbled to the edge of Chelsea's box and played in the perfect pass for Emmanuel to go and win it. The striker - who handed us the lead in the seventh minute - beat Petr Cech again only for Terry, sliding in behind his goalkeeper, to somehow divert the shot across goal and wide of the far post.
"That was a difficult one," said Ade afterwards. "I knew what I was going to do in my head and when the ball came, that’s what I did. "When I saw the ball on its way I thought 'yes', I was excited, I thought the ball was going into the back of the net.
"But unfortunately, John Terry was there. I don’t have a clue where he came from. I don’t even know how he saved the ball. Fair play to him."
Ade admitted the lads were desperate to topple Chelsea. "It was a tough game," he said. "We had chances, they had chances as well. "We wanted to win so badly but in football, it doesn’t always go the way you expect or the way you want. "This time, we have to be happy with one point and keep our heads up, keep going and hopefully get a good result at Norwich on Tuesday."

He seems constantly injured. I suppose if he wasn't he'd be at one of the best clubs in the world so we can't complain too much. We have enough up front if Defoe and Ade can stay fit to win games without him.

iirc he goes to see a specialist that uses controversial short term fixes on them that screw it up in the long term.
