He really isn't and hasn't been for a fair bit now.Dean wrote:Marvin wrote:If they got Modric, Lampard would/should be drop. Lampard and best player shouldn't be in the same sentence.
I was quizzing with this too. Whether to drop Lampard or not, but to me, he's still 'vital to Chelsea', in terms of his goals and how they play. He's a big part of their team set up and a large proportion of their goals come from him. That's the problem you have. I came to the decision of playing Modric in a wider position because, I've always seen it as you play your best players and fit them into the team, and I don't think the likes of Kalou/Malouda/Anelka warrant starting over Lampard.
I really don't see a space in the starting XI for Lampard in AvB's team, especially not ahead of Modric. Heck, even Anelka is more important to the team than Lampard is.

Fair enough if that's what you think.
Lampard and Modric in the team > Modric in the team.

I'd rather get the best out of an exeptional player rather than fit in a has-been.

lampard is such a liability his movement is so poor and his touch is very unimaginative.
ramires with lampard in midfield is very counterproductive. modric would be much better addition. ramires however would compliment modric very well
lampard can be super sub

I pretty much agree. Lampard and Ramires together is not a good combo when Lampard is not scoring goals consistently or in good shooting form.. Not enough imagination between the 2 of them. The hard part is dropping Lampard as gently as possible at this point if you are the manager. Lampard wouldn't like it but he needs to realize if he wants to do his part for the team like Scholes and Giggs have done he has to accept being a sub at times. Plenty of games for him to play in still in a blue shirt I hope.

I think Lampard is actually a very intelligent player, people always try to bring him down (I done it too) but closing watching him he's a great player, good on the ball and can finish anything. I don't agree with his touch being unimaginative because he's touch is very good, and I never see him struggle much when he gets the ball....always in comfort on the ball Lampard.mauro=beast wrote:lampard is such a liability his movement is so poor and his touch is very unimaginative.

Lampard's a little Englander though.
